Calperum Station (reserve)
Calperum Station, also known as Calperum Reserve, is a nature reserve located in the east of the Australian state of South Australia about north-west of the town of Renmark and about east of the state capital of Adelaide. Calperum Station consists of three separate pastoral leases - Calperum, Calperum Road and Yubalia. The property is a de-stocked pastoral (sheep) station managed by the Australian Landscape Trust. It is managed for public benefit as a site for habitat and species conservation, scientific research and public education. Most of the property is listed as "critical habitat" for a threatened species of bird, the black-eared miner, but it is not an officially-designated protected area. The reserve includes a major part of the Riverland Ramsar site, a wetland of international significance, and Calperum Station is also part of a larger reserve system known as the Riverland Biosphere Reserve. Calperum Station, South Australia
Calperum Station is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the northern side of the Murray River about to the north of the town of Renmark and about east of the centre of the capital city of Adelaide. The locality was established on 26 April 2013 in respect to "the long established local name". Its name is derived from the former pastoral lease of the same name with the addition of the word "Station" to distinguish it from another locality elsewhere in South Australia. Calperum Station is located within the federal divisions of Barker and Grey, the state electoral district of Chaffey, the Pastoral Unincorporated Area of South Australia and the state’s Murray and Mallee region. The land use within Calperum Station is concerned with the protected area which is also known as Calperum Station and which has been fully occupied its extent since its establishment in 2013. Mallee are trees or shrubs, mainly certain species of eucalypts, which grow with multiple stems springing from an underground lignotuber or xylopodium, usually to a height of no more than . Gluepot Reserve is a private protected area located in the Australian state of South Australia in the gazetted locality of Gluepot, South Australia, Gluepot about north of the town of Waikerie, South Australia, Waikerie. History Gluepot was established by Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union, Birds Australia (now BirdLife Australia) in 1997, by purchase, through a public appeal, of Gluepot Station, a pastoral lease with an area of in the semi-arid Murray Mallee region of South Australia. Edith Rockefeller McCormick (August 31, 1872 – August 25, 1932) was an American socialite, daughter of Standard Oil co-founder John D. Rockefeller. She and her husband Harold Fowler McCormick were prominent in Chicago society, supporting many causes, including the city's first opera company.
