Calgary Centre-North
Calgary Centre-North (formerly known as Calgary North Centre) was a federal electoral district (Canada), electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 2004 to 2015. It was a mixed urban and suburban constituency in Calgary – with a dense urban area close to the Bow River in the south and suburbs in the north of the riding, west of Deerfoot Trail and east of Nose Hill Park. History This Electoral district (Canada), riding was created as "Calgary North Centre" in 2003 from Calgary Centre (38%), Calgary—Nose Hill (38%) and Calgary Northeast (24%). In 2004, it was renamed "Calgary Centre-North". In 2013, it was abolished and redistributed into Calgary Confederation (67%) and Calgary Nose Hill (33%) ridings. Canadian federal electoral districts are constituencies that elect members of Parliament to the House of Commons of Canada every election. Calgary Northeast
Calgary Northeast was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 2015. It was an urban riding in the city of Calgary. History This riding was created in 1987 from territory that had been in the ridings of Calgary East and Bow River, which were abolished. In 2003, parts of this electoral district were transferred to the new Calgary Centre-North riding. The riding was abolished in 2013. The bulk of the riding became Calgary Skyview, while a small portion was transferred to Calgary Forest Lawn, which largely replaced Calgary East. Calgary Centre (; formerly known as Calgary South Centre) is a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1968. The riding consists of many young adults who have a relatively high average household income and education level. As the riding encompasses the downtown core and large swaths of apartment blocks in the communities west and south of downtown, Calgary Centre has a low home ownership rate compared to the rest of Canada. Nose Hill Park
Nose Hill Park is a natural park in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta which covers over . It is the fourth-largest urban park in Canada, and one of the largest urban parks in North America. It is a municipal park, unlike Fish Creek, which is a provincial park. It was created in 1980. Wildlife The park is large enough to sustain large mammals like white-tailed deer and coyote as well as porcupine, northern pocket gophers, and Richardson's ground squirrels. Northern harriers and Swainson's hawks feed on smaller species such as mice and voles. Deerfoot Trail
Deerfoot Trail is a freeway segment of Alberta Highway 2, Highway 2 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It stretches the entire length of the city from south to north and links suburbs to Downtown Calgary, downtown via Memorial Drive (Calgary), Memorial Drive and 17 Avenue SE (Calgary), 17 Avenue SE. The freeway begins south of Calgary where it splits from Macleod Trail, crosses the Bow River into city limits, and reaches the Stoney Trail ring road.
