Mary Steichen Calderone (born Mary Rose Steichen; July 1, 1904 – October 24, 1998) was an American physician, author, public speaker, and public health advocate for reproductive rights and sex education. In 1953, Mary Calderone became the first female medical director of Planned Parenthood. During her tenure, the organization started advocating for reform in abortion laws. Under her leadership, Planned Parenthood organized a national conference of medical professionals on the subject in 1955, known as “''Abortion in the United States.''" Salvatore Calderone
Salvatore Calderone (1876–1929) was an early American movie theater magnate and founder of the Calderone chain of theaters located on Long Island, New York. He was noted as being the "Master Showman of Nassau County." Early life Calderone was born in Sicily, Italy and came to America in 1893 to work as a newspaperman. He was employed first by the New Orleans newspaper, ''The Picayune,'' and six years later in 1899 came to New York City to work for the newspaper, ''Il Progresso.'' During this period of his life he was also known as having an interest in a California fruit producing enterprise. Giuseppe “Pippo” Calderone (Catania, 1 November 1925 – Catania, 8 September 1978) was an influential Sicilian mafioso from Catania, eventually becoming the capo of the Catania Mafia family. He became the ‘secretary’ of the Interprovincial Commission, formed around 1975 at his instigation. Victor Calderone (born March 20, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York, United States) is an American electronic music producer, DJ and remixer. The Calderone glacier () is a glacier located in the Apennine Mountains in Abruzzo, Italy. Found in the Gran Sasso d'Italia mountain group, it lies just beneath the Corno Grande, the highest peak in the Apennines. With the disappearance of the Corral de la Veleta glacier in the Sierra Nevada in 1913, "Il Calderone" became one of Europe's southernmost known glaciers (42°28′N, 13°33′E), being slightly to the north only compared to Snezhnika (latitude of 41°46′09″ N) and Banski Suhodol Glaciers in Pirin Mountain in Bulgaria. Calderone Concert Hall was a 2,500-seat music venue located at 145 N Franklin St. in Hempstead, New York, which was popular in the 1970s and 1980s.
