Brynford
Brynford () is a village and community in Flintshire, Wales. It is located to the south west of the town of Holywell and near the A55 road (North Wales Expressway). Brynford had a population of 1,059 at the 2011 census. St Michael's Church (Church in Wales) dates from 1851 and is a Grade II listed building. The Cynfaen Memorial Methodist Chapel, serving Brynford, is in the nearby village of Calcoed. Two Bronze Age round barrows known as (Militia Patch) are located on Holywell Golf Club, about north-northwest of the church. Historically, the area was extensively mined for lead and has been left with the scars of that past all over its common land. The explorer and journalist Henry Morton Stanley was a student teacher in the old village school. The community includes the villages of Calcoed and Dolphin. Delyn is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. Also, however, it is one of nine constituencies in the North Wales electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to nine constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. Boundaries The constituency was created for the first election to the Assembly, in 1999, with the name and boundaries of the Delyn Westminster constituency. It is entirely within the preserved county of Clwyd. Flintshire () is a county in the north-east of Wales. It borders the Irish Sea to the north, the Dee Estuary to the north-east, the English county of Cheshire to the east, Wrexham County Borough to the south, and Denbighshire to the west. Connah's Quay is the largest town, and Flintshire County Council is based in Ewloe. The county covers , with a population of 155,000 in 2021. Clwyd ( , ) is a preserved counties of Wales, preserved county of Wales, situated in the north-east corner of the country; it is named after the River Clwyd, which runs through the area. To the north lies the Irish Sea, with the English ceremonial counties of Cheshire to the east and Shropshire to the south-east. Powys and Gwynedd lie to the south and west respectively. Holywell, Flintshire
Holywell ( ; ) is a market town and community in Flintshire, Wales. It lies to the west of the estuary of the River Dee. The community includes Greenfield. In 2011, it had a population of 8,886. Etymology The name Holywell is literally ' + ' in reference to St Winefride's Well, which is situated in the town. Similarly, its Welsh name, ', is a compound of ' "town" + ' "well", meaning "town of hewell". History The market town of Holywell is known for St Winefride's Well, a holy well surrounded by a chapel. It has been a site of Christian pilgrimage since about 660, dedicated to Saint Winefride who, according to legend, was beheaded there by Caradog who attempted to attack her. The well is one of the Seven Wonders of Wales and the town bills itself as ''The Lourdes of Wales''. Many pilgrims from all over the world continue to visit Holywell and the well. A55 Road
The A55, also known as the North Wales Expressway (), is a major road in Wales and England, connecting Cheshire and North Wales. The vast majority of its length from Chester to Holyhead is a dual carriageway primary route, with the exception of the Britannia Bridge over the Menai Strait and several short sections where there are gaps in between the two carriageways. All junctions are Grade separation, grade separated apart from a roundabout east of Penmaenmawr and another nearby in Llanfairfechan. Initially, the road ran from Chester to Bangor, Gwynedd, Bangor. In 2001, it was extended across Anglesey to the ferry port of Holyhead parallel to the A5 road (Great Britain), A5.
