Calcarius (sculptor)
Calcarius (fl. second quarter of the 13th century) was an artist working in late Romanesque style on Gotland (present-day Sweden). Works There exist no written sources about Calcarius and the name is a label, chosen in the 20th century by art historian Johnny Roosval. It is derived from the fact that this artist was the first to cut sculptures from limestone rather than sandstone on a systematic basis on Gotland. To the workshop of Calcarius around 20 baptismal fonts are attributed in the Baltic region. Only two of them are on Gotland (in Fole and Buttle Church), indicating that the workshop worked on an export market. Bohuslän (; da, Bohuslen; no, Båhuslen) is a Provinces of Sweden, Swedish province in Götaland, on the northernmost part of the country's west coast. Bredsättra Church
Bredsättra Church ( sv, Bredsättra kyrka) is a Lutheran church in Bredsättra socken on the Swedish island Öland, in the Baltic Sea. It belongs to the Diocese of Växjö. History and architecture The oldest part of the now visible church is the tower, dating from the 13th century and originally designed also as a defensive tower. The church was heavily reconstructed during the 19th century. The present nave dates from 1848, as do the spire of the tower. The church houses several medieval furnishings. The baptismal font is a Romanesque piece of art. The triumphal cross is later, Gothic in style. Öland
Öland (, ; ; sometimes written ''Øland'' in other Scandinavian languages, and often ''Oland'' internationally; la, Oelandia) is the second-largest Swedish island and the smallest of the traditional provinces of Sweden. Öland has an area of and is located in the Baltic Sea just off the coast of Småland. The island has 26,000 inhabitants. It is separated from the mainland by the Kalmar Strait and connected to it by the Öland Bridge, which opened on 30 September 1972. Scania, also known by its native name of Skåne (, ), is the southernmost of the historical provinces (''landskap'') of Sweden. Östergötland (; English exonym: East Gothland) is one of the traditional provinces of Sweden (''landskap'' in Swedish) in the south of Sweden.
