Calamvale Ward
The Calamvale Ward is a Brisbane City Council ward covering Calamvale, Algester, Drewvale, Heathwood, Parkinson, Stretton, Larapinta, Karawatha, and part of Forest Lake. The ward has been represented by Angela Owen of the Liberal National Party since its creation in 2016. Calamvale replaced Parkinson Ward, which itself replaced Acacia Ridge Ward. History Acacia Ridge Ward In 1991, Kevin Bianchi of Labor was elected councillor for Acacia Ridge Ward. Bianchi was re-elected in 1994, 1997, 2000, and 2004, the last time with a 3.8% margin. Parkinson Ward The 2007 Electoral Commission Redistribution created Parkinson Ward, replacing Acacia Ridge Ward while gaining area from Richlands Ward and losing area to Karawatha and Moorooka Ward. James Robert Martin (born 20 April 1981) is an Australian politician who currently serves as the Labor member for Stretton in the Queensland Legislative Assembly, having been elected at the 2021 Stretton state by-election on 24 July 2021. Elections to Brisbane City Council were held on Saturday 28 March 2020 to elect a councillor to each of the local government area's 26 wards and the direct election of the Lord Mayor of Brisbane. The election resulted in the re-election of the Liberal National Party under Adrian Schrinner as Lord Mayor and the Liberal National Party with a majority council. In the Lord Mayoral election, Adrian Schrinner and the Liberal National Party was declared the winner after defeating Pat Condren and the Labor Party on a two-party-preferred basis - 56.3% to 43.7%.
