The Peninsula Commute, also known as the Southern Pacific Peninsula or just Peninsula, was the common name for commuter rail service between San Jose, California, San Jose and San Francisco, California, San Francisco on the San Francisco Peninsula. Millbrae Station
Millbrae station is an intermodal transit station serving Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and Caltrain, located in Millbrae, California. The station is the terminal station for BART on the San Francisco Peninsula, served by two lines: The before 9pm and the during the early morning and evening. It is served by all Caltrain services. Tamien Station
Tamien station is an intermodal passenger transportation station in the Tamien neighborhood of central San Jose, California, served by the VTA light rail and the Caltrain commuter rail line, along with bus connections. The station has two elevated island platforms, one for each service. The two platforms are connected by a walkway at ground-level that is below the two platforms. The light rail platform is located in the center median of the State Route 87 freeway just north of the Alma Avenue overpass. The Caltrain platform is located just to the east, between Lick Avenue and State Route 87 and just north of Alma Avenue. Broadway Station (Caltrain)
Broadway station is a Caltrain station in Burlingame, California, originally built for the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1911. Since 2005, Caltrain only serves the stop on weekends and holidays; weekday service is provided by a bus shuttle to nearby Millbrae station. A planned grade separation project for the nearby level crossing at Broadway is scheduled to open by 2027, alleviating street congestion and restoring weekday service. College Park Station (Caltrain)
College Park station is a limited-service, weekday-only Caltrain station serving the College Park neighborhood and the Bellarmine College Preparatory school in San Jose, California. Service The station is served by four trains per weekday. During each rush hour, one northbound local train from Tamien and one southbound local train from San Francisco serve the station. There is no weekend service. Due to the small size of the station platforms, only the three northern-most cars of each train open their doors to allow passengers to board and alight. The two southern cars do not open. The station has a boarding assistance area so that train crews may offer help to passengers with disabilities. Stanford Station
Stanford station is a Caltrain station in Palo Alto, California, near the stadium on the Stanford University campus. It is not a regular service stop; instead, it is only in service for Stanford football home games and other large events at the stadium. The usual stop for the university is the Palo Alto station. The station does not have any ticket vending machines; however, when in use, Caltrain staff will be present with handheld Clipper card readers so people can tag on and off the train. Gilroy, California
Gilroy is a city in Santa Clara County, California, United States, south of the San Francisco Bay Area. It had a population of 59,520 as of the 2020 census. Gilroy's origins lie in the village of San Ysidro, which developed in the early 19th century from Rancho San Ysidro. This land had been granted to Californio ranchero Ygnacio Ortega in 1809. Following Ygnacio's death in 1833, his daughter Clara Ortega de Gilroy and son-in-law John Gilroy inherited the largest portion of the rancho, and began developing the settlement. When the town was incorporated in 1868, it was renamed in honor of John Gilroy, a Scotsman who had emigrated to California in 1814, naturalized as a Mexican citizen, adopted the Spanish language, and converted to Catholicism.
