Caerau F.C.
Caerau Football Club are a Welsh football club from Maesteg. They currently play in the Bridgend & District League Premier Division. They formerly played in the Welsh Football League. They were promoted to the Welsh Football League Division Three for the 2010–11 season from the South Wales Amateur League. In 2011–12 they gained another promotion to the Welsh Football League Division Two, but were relegated to Division Three in 2013–14. At the end of the 2018–19 season the club were relegated from the Welsh Football League and joined the South Wales Alliance League Premier Division. They were then relegated for a second successive season at the end of the 2019–20 season, dropping to the First Division for 2020–21. Maesteg
Maesteg is a town and community in Bridgend County Borough, Wales. Maesteg lies at the northernmost end of the Llynfi Valley, close to the border with Neath Port Talbot. In 2011, Maesteg had a population of 20,612. The English translation of Maesteg is 'fair field'. Historically a part of Glamorgan, the growth of the town started with the opening of ironworks in the 1820s, and 1830s. Once a coal mining area, the last pit closed in 1985. With the decline of the coal industry and, more recently, the closure of one large factory producing cosmetics and another manufacturing vehicle components, the valley has become a residential/dormitory area for the Port Talbot, Bridgend and Cardiff journey to work areas. 11% (1,867 out of 20,702) of the town's population speak Welsh with 27.9% of 3-15 year olds speaking the language. The Bridgend & District League is a football league covering the town of Bridgend and surrounding areas in South Wales. The leagues are at the eighth, ninth and tenth levels of the Welsh football league system. Area The radius of the league covers Ogmore Valley, the Llynfi Valley, Bridgend, the Garw Valley and Gilfach. The league's eastern side is Llanharry and its western side is Cefn Cribwr. Paul Merson
Paul Charles Merson (born 20 March 1968) is an English former professional footballer, manager, commentator and sports television pundit for Sky Sports. Originally a forward, Merson found success as an attacking midfielder and playmaker later in his career. After making his debut for Arsenal in the 1986–87 season, Merson went on to play eleven seasons with the North London club.
