The Cadotte River is a tributary of the Peace River (Canada), Peace River in Northern Alberta, Canada. The river gives the name to the Cadotte Member, a stratigraphical unit of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Course The Cadotte River forms in Northern Alberta, north of High Prairie, at an elevation of . It flows north forming a series of small lakes along its course, then empties into the Cadotte Lake, which also receives the waters of Marten River from the east. Cadotte River flows out from the northern shore of Cadotte Lake, immediately west from the settlement of Cadotte Lake, Alberta, Cadotte Lake and Cadotte Airport, at an elevation of . Marten River (Alberta)
The Marten River is a short river in central Alberta. The Marten is one of the major inflows of Lesser Slave Lake, which drains through the Lesser Slave River, a major tributary of the Athabasca River. Significant debate exists regarding the origin of the river's name. One theory suggests the river, as well as nearby Marten Mountain were named for a local trapper. The other theory suggests the river and mountain were named for martens, a weasel that inhabits the region. The Geological Survey of Canada used the name ''Martin River'' on an 1892 map. The river forms to the north of Marten Mountain at the outlet of the westernmost Marten Lake. It flows southwest before passing under Alberta Highway 88. Cadotte Lake
Cadotte Lake is an unincorporated community in Northern Sunrise County in northern Alberta, Canada. It is on the northern shore of the homonymous lake, along Highway 986, east of Peace River and west of the Bicentennial Highway (Highway 88). It straddles the boundary between the Woodland Cree First Nation Reserve 226 and Northern Sunrise County. The western part of the community, inside the reserve, is known as the Cadotte Lake Indian Settlement, while the eastern part, in Northern Sunrise County, is designated a hamlet. Cadotte Airport is located east of the settlement. The community is named for the nearby lake, as is the out-flowing Cadotte River, which lends its name to the Cadotte Member of the Peace River Formation, a stratigraphical unit of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Peace River, Alberta
Peace River (originally named Peace River Crossing and known as in French) is a town in northwest Alberta, Canada. It is along the banks of the Peace River at its confluence with the Smoky River, the Heart River and Pat's Creek. It is approximately northwest of Edmonton and northeast of Grande Prairie on Highway 2. It was known as the Village of Peace River Crossing between 1914 and 1916. The Peace River townsite is nearly below the relatively flat terrain surrounding it. Pat's Creek used to be an open channel through the town but is now channelled through a culvert under the town streets, re-emerging at the mouth on the Peace River at the Riverfront Park. High Prairie
High Prairie is a town in northern Alberta, Canada within Big Lakes County. It is located at the junction of Alberta Highway 2, Highway 2 and Alberta Highway 749, Highway 749, approximately northeast of Valleyview, Alberta, Valleyview and west of Slave Lake. History The name describes the nature of the surrounding countryside. A post office opened in 1910. Its early name was Prairie River. In 1914, the alignment of the Edmonton, Dunvegan and British Columbia Railway, later known as the Northern Alberta Railway, was chosen to go through High Prairie instead of Grouard, Alberta, Grouard to the northeast.
