Cabra Castle
Cabra Castle is the name given to two castles, one now ruined, the other now used as a luxury hotel. Named for the nearby townland of Cabra, the sites of both structures are on the northside of Kingscourt in County Cavan, Ireland. 19th-century castle The current Cabra Castle (located just off the R179 road, known locally as the Carrickmacross Road) was constructed in a mixture of the "neo- Norman-style" and the " Gothick-style" in the first decade of the 19th century. Much of the exterior is in a form of what might be described as the "neo-Norman-style", while the interior is mainly "Gothic" (as opposed to the later neo-Gothic styles). This structure was originally called Cormey (or Cormy) Castle, after the local townland where it was built. It was constructed for the Foster family, a local " Ascendancy" family. Cabra, Dublin
Cabra () is an inner suburb on the northside of Dublin city in Ireland. It is approximately northwest of the city centre, in the administrative area of Dublin City Council. It was commonly known as Cabragh until the early 20th century. Largely located between the Royal Canal and the Phoenix Park, it is primarily a residential suburb, with a range of institutions and some light industry. Cabra is served by bus, tram and mainline rail; it lies across Navan Road, one of the main roads from central Dublin to the orbital motorway. The population of all electoral divisions labelled as Cabra was 23,681 as of the 2022 census. Cabragh (Killeeshil)
Cabragh () is a small village and townland in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is in the historic barony of Dungannon Lower, the civil parish of Killeeshil and the poor law union of Dunngannon, and covers an area of in the province of Ulster. Cabragh is located approximately west of Dungannon, close to Aghaginduff and Fasglashagh. Education Cabragh has a primary school called St. Mary's Primary School, which has been open since 1969. Around 200 pupils attend the school as of 2023 History Throughout 1610 (pre-plantation) to 1856, the land ownership of Cabragh has switched multiple times. In 1610, Cabragh was under the control of Clonennis (MacDonnell), while post-plantation Neal O'Neale was the servitor. William Groves held the land of Cabragh in 1641 until 1856 when Cabragh was no longer owned by any land holders. Threemilehouse
Threemilehouse or Three Mile House () is a village in County Monaghan, Ireland. It is roughly midway between Monaghan and Newbliss on the R189. The nearest village is Smithborough. It lies mostly within the townlands of Cabragh, Drumguill and Kilnaclay in the parish of Kilmore & Drumsnat. Saint Mary's church and primary school on the hill overlook the village. Threemilehouse has one of the oldest graveyards in the country, Drumsnat, which dates to 600 AD. The Central Statistics Office's report for the 2006 census lists Cabragh as a settlement with a total population of 167. History There was once a monastery founded by St. Molua at nearby Drumsnat.
