Cabinet Of Malawi
The Cabinet of Malawi is the executive branch of the government, made up of the President, Vice President, Ministers and Deputy Ministers responsible for the different departments. Cabinet as of 31 January 2023 A new cabinet was appointed on 31 January 2023. Cabinet as of January 2022 President Lazarus Chakwera's government as of January 2022, has 24 full ministers and 9 deputy ministers. Colleen Zamba is the current Secretary to the President and Cabinet. She replaced Zangazanga chikhosi after her appointment on 1 June 2022 The Secretary to the President and Cabinet is a civil service position which serves as head of the cabinet Secretariat. Politics of Malawi takes place in a framework of a presidential representative democratic republic, whereby the President of Malawi is both head of state and head of government, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the National Assembly. There is a cabinet of Malawi that is appointed by the President of Malawi. The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature. Malawi attained independence in July 1964 and was governed as a one-party personalist dictatorship under Hastings Banda and his Malawi Congress Party from 1964 to 1994. In the early 1990s, pressure formed on the regime to democratize. Following a 1993 referendum won by pro-democracy forces, a multi-party democratic system was established in 1994. Lazarus Chakwera
Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera (born 5 April 1955) is a Malawian politician and theologian who has served as President of Malawi since June 2020. He has served as the leader of the Malawi Congress Party since 2013. He was president of the Malawi Assemblies of God from 1989 to 2013. Halima Alima Daud
Halima Alima Daud is a Malawian politician and deputy health minister. Life Daud was born in southern Malawi in Nsanje. She is based in Dowa and she was first elected to parliament in 2009 when 21% of the MPs were women. She lost her Dowa South East seat in 2014. She was not one of 45 women elected that year to a parliament with 193 seats. There had been a campaign to get 50% but this was unsuccessful She stood for re-election in the 2019 Malawian general election for her former parliamentary seat with the support of the Malawi Congress Party.
