Cabaiguán
Cabaiguán () is a municipality and town in the province of Sancti Spíritus, Cuba. With an urban population of 42,075 is the 3rd largest town of the province. It is bordered to the north by the municipality of Yaguajay, to the east with the municipality of Taguasco, to the south with the municipality of Sancti Spíritus with the Tuinicú River serving as its limit, to the southwest with Fomento and to the west and northwest with Placetas, a municipality within the province of Villa Clara. It has a territorial area of 598.98 km2. Overview It was founded in 1894, and established as a municipality in 1926. Guayos
Guayos is a small town and ''consejo popular'' (i.e. "people's council") located in the municipality of Cabaiguán, province of Sancti Spíritus, Cuba. History The name of Guayos was given to the town by travelers that were inspired by trees of the same name which surrounded the town. These trees would serve travelers as a place of rest and relaxation. The town was founded by Captain Miguel Reyes, who fought with the Independence General Antonio Maceo. His daughter Mercedes Reyes was one of the first female to serve as a Major in Cuba. The Central Road ( Carretera Central) and the Railway of Cuba (Ferrocarriles de Cuba) run along the whole island and connect Guayos with all the other provinces and their capitals, including the capital of the country, as well as with other small towns on the island. Placetas
Placetas () is a city in the Villa Clara Province in the center of Cuba; before the change in the country's government in 1959 the province was called Las Villas. The town is also known as because of its wild Lauraceae, laurel trees. Placetas is also a , one of 13 subdivisions of the Villa Clara Province. Cuba's geographical center, Guaracabulla, is located in this municipality. History Placetas was founded on September 9, 1861 mainly due to the sugar production industry. Nowadays, the main produce of the area is tobacco. The main contribution to its foundation came from Jose Martinez-Fortun y Erles, a Spain, Spanish Marques and former colonel in the Spanish Army. Sancti Spíritus Province
Sancti Spíritus () is one of the provinces of Cuba. Its capital is the identically named Sancti Spíritus. Another major city is Trinidad. Yaguajay () is a municipality and town in the Sancti Spíritus Province of Cuba. It is located in the northern part of the province, and borders the Bay of Buena Vista to the north. The Caguanes National Park (protecting swamp and coastal ecosystems, caves and mural art) is located in Yaguajay. Fomento is a town and municipality in the Sancti Spíritus Province of Cuba. It was founded in 1864. Geography The municipality is divided into the barrios of Fomento (municipal seat) and the village of Jíquimas. Until 1976 the villages of Juan Bravo and Güinía de Miranda were part of Fomento, when they passed in the new province of Villa Clara Province, Villa Clara, as part of the municipality of Manicaragua. Remedios (), also known as San Juan de los Remedios, is a city and municipio, municipality located from the northern coast of Cuba, in the center of the island. It is the oldest Spanish settlement in the former Las Villas province. It is now part of the province of Villa Clara Province, Villa Clara.
