CSP UM Timișoara
UM Timișoara was a Romanian professional football (soccer), football football team, club from Timișoara, Romania, founded in 1960 and dissolved in 2008. History The football team of ''Uzinele Mecanice Timișoara'' was founded in 1960, playing in the first years of its existence in the Ronaț neighborhood on the field that would later become the Stadionul Gheorghe Rășcanu. The club managed to promoted in Divizia C at the end of the 1966–67 Regional Championship, 1966–67 season, when it won the Banat Regional Championship and the play-off for promotion against Aurul Brad, the winner of the Hunedoara Regional Championship. In the 1970s, the team went to play on the Stadionul UMT, known at that time as ''Stadionul Electrica''. The club did not obtain great performances during its existence, but succeeded to play one season of Romanian top football, in the 2001–02 Divizia A. Stadionul UMT
UMT Stadium () was a multi-purpose stadium in Timișoara, Romania. Until 1960 the stadium was known as ''Stadionul Electrica'' and was the main home ground in Timișoara for Sport of athletics, athletics championships, being also the stadium where Olympic Games, Olympic champion Iolanda Balaș made her debut. FC Ripensia Timișoara, Ripensia Timișoara (until 1948) and ACS Electrica Timișoara, Electrica Timișoara (until 1960) also used the stadium as the home ground for association football, football matches. In 1960 the stadium entered into possession of Uzinele Mecanice Timișoara (UMT) and a sports complex was built around it, consisting of another stadium and various grounds. The new stadium was named Stadionul Electrica and the old one was renamed after the owner of the sports complex, Stadionul UMT. Aurel Șunda
Aurel Șunda (born 14 October 1957) is a Romanian former footballer and manager. As a footballer, Șunda played mainly as a defender for Politehnica Timișoara, club for which he played in more than 200 matches. In fact, as a player, Șunda never left Timișoara, also playing for other local teams such as CFR Timișoara, Progresul Timișoara or UM Timișoara. He retired in 1991 and started a career as a football manager at his last club where he played, UM Timișoara. In the 1990s Șunda remained in Banat as a manager and/ or assistant coach of Politehnica Timișoara, CSM Reșița or UM Timișoara. Former UMT player promoted the team in the top-flight, in 2000, for the first time in the history of "the zebras". Constantin Rădulescu (footballer, Born 1934)
Constantin "Costică" Rădulescu (17 April 1934 – 8 July 2002) was a Romanian footballer and manager. Playing career Rădulescu was born on 17 April 1934 in Comarnic and started his playing career in 1948 at local club, Vulturii. In 1949 he moved to Dinamo Brașov where he stayed until 1958, in the last year the team was playing in Cluj. He then signed with Dinamo Bacău, a team for which he would play the rest of his career which ended in 1966 when he scored a hat-trick against Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea, a game he did not finish on the field as he suffered a commotion. Even though he was a fan of Rapid București, he never got to play for them. Managerial career Rădulescu started his coaching career at Dinamo Bacău in 1966 at the request of his former coach, Constantin Teașcă who left the team, managing to promote it from Divizia B to Divizia A in his first year. Cicerone Manolache
Cicerone "Cici" Manolache (16 May 1936 – 28 January 2024) was a Romanian footballer and manager who played as a forward and made four appearances for Romania's national team. Club career Manolache was born on 16 May 1936 in Păunești, Romania but when he was three years old, his family moved to Reșița, starting to play junior level football in 1950 at local club, FCM. In 1957, he started to play senior level football for Reșița in Divizia B where he would spend two seasons, afterwards moving to Știința Timișoara in the same league, a team he helped earn promotion to Divizia A by scoring 18 goals in his first season. Iosif Lereter
Iosif Lereter (23 July 1933 – 26 January 2024) was a Romanian footballer and manager. Club career Iosif Lereter was born on 23 July 1933 in Oțelu Roșu, Romania and at the beginning of his career he played as a forward and midfielder, ending his career as a centre-back. He started to play football in the lower leagues of Romania at the local club from his town, Energia Oțelu Roșu in 1949. Lereter moved to Politehnica Timișoara where he made his debut in the Romanian top-league Divizia A on 18 August 1957 in a 2–2 against Progresul Oradea. Lereter was part of Politehnica's team that won the 1957–58 Cupa României, coach Dincă Schileru using him all the minutes in the 1–0 victory from the final against Progresul București. Costică Toma
Costică Toma (1 January 1928 – 13 May 2008) was a Romanian international football goalkeeper and later manager. Playing career He was born in Brăila, into a family coming from Muralto, Switzerland. Toma began his football career in 1940, when he played for FC Suter as a striker. After a period when he played as a youth for Capșa București, he moved to Iași. He played only a season at CS ta, and after two months at Câmpulung Moldovenesc, he moved to Steaua București. He played twelve years for the Army club, and was a part of the Steaua Golden Team. He had at Steaua a famous and a fair-play rivalry with Ion Voinescu. It was said that Toma and Voinescu were the best couple of goalkeepers that a Romanian football club ever had.
