Clubul Sportiv Orășenesc Petrolul Potcoava, also known as Petrolul Potcoava, or simply Potcoava is a Romanian football club based in Potcoava, Olt County. The team currently competes in Liga III, the third tier of Romanian football. History The club was founded in 1950 as Unirea Potcoava and competed in the Argeș Regional and District Championships. During the 1960s, it adopted the name Petrolul Potcoava, as Potcoava is known for its oil and gas deposits, with Ciurești Scaffold of the Romanian Petrol Company operating in the area. This led to local economic development and further highlighted the town's connection to the petroleum industry. 2019–20 Liga I
The 2019–20 Liga I (also known as Casa Liga 1 for sponsorship reasons) was the 102nd season of the Liga I, the top professional league for Romanian association football clubs, which began in July 2019 and was scheduled to end in June 2020. Suspended in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic in Romania, the season resumed on 13 June and effectively ended on 5 August. It was the fifth season to take place since the play-off/play-out rule had been introduced. CFR Cluj were two-time defending champions, and they successfully defended their title once more. Universitatea Craiova competed for the trophy until the final fixture of the championship play-offs, and ultimately finished as runner-ups, while FCSB were unable to claim a top three spot in the table for the first time since the 2010–11 season. 2023–24 Liga III
The 2023–24 Liga III will be the 68th season of Liga III, the third tier of the Romanian football league system. The season will begin in August 2023 and is scheduled to end in June 2024. Team changes FC Brașov saga FC Brașov had comfortably avoided relegation from Liga II last season, while Progresul Spartac were relegated after losing their last chance, the play-off against Metaloglobus. However FC Brașov did not have their finances in order and the FRF had no choice but to relegate them. FC Brașov appealed the decision, including at the court in Lausanne, but ultimately lost.
