CSM Drobeta-Turnu Severin (football)
FC Drobeta-Turnu Severin was a Romanian professional football club from Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Mehedinți County, Romania, founded in 1958 and dissolved in 2011. History ''FC Drobeta-Turnu Severin'' was never able to reach the Liga I, playing all of its history in the Liga II and the Liga III. In ''1958'', Drobeta Turnu Severin was founded, after it took the place of CFR Turnu Severin in the Divizia C. In 1959 the club changes its name to Metalul Turnu Severin. In ''1976'', after ''Metalul'' relegated from the Divizia C to the Divizia D, at the end of the 1974–75 season, it merged with ''Meva'' and formed a new club named CSM Drobeta-Turnu Severin. In 1985 it changes its name to AS Drobeta-Turnu Severin and in 1990 to FC Drobeta-Turnu Severin. It managed to finish above the relegation line the 2000–01 Divizia B, but because of lack of funds it was enrolled in the 2001–02 Divizia C. Stadionul Municipal (Drobeta-Turnu Severin)
The Drobeta-Turnu Severin Municipal Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania. The stadium holds 20,054 people all on seats and is used mostly for football matches. In 2009 it was entirely renovated, 20,054 seats were mounted, becoming an all-seater stadium. The floodlighting system was inaugurated in 2010. 1989–90 Divizia B
The 1989–90 Divizia B was the 50th season of the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The format has been maintained to three series, each of them having 18 teams. At the end of the season the winners of the series promoted to Divizia A and the last three places from each series relegated to Divizia C. A relegation play-off was played between the 15th places from each series, team ranked last also relegated to Divizia C: the relegation play-off was necessary due to the fall of communism in December 1989, culminating with the exclusion from Divizia A of Flacăra Moreni and Olt Scornicești, and the dissolution of Victoria București. Viorel Mateianu
Viorel Mateianu (1 June 1938 – 25 November 1997) was a Romanian football (soccer), football player and coach. Club career Mateianu was born in Lipănești, Prahova County, Prahova and started playing football in the Romanian lower leagues at Flacăra Boldești and Progresul CPCS București. He made his Liga I, Divizia A debut on 25 August 1957, playing for Progresul București in a 3–2 victory in which he scored a goal against CSM Jiul Petroșani, Energia Petroșani, shortly after his debut, Mateianu was nicknamed "Little Alfredo Di Stéfano". In 1957, during a football tournament held in San Sebastián, Spain in which he participated with one of Romania's youth teams, Mateianu had an offer to play for Real Madrid, which he refused, not wanting to risk to never see his parents again, as he could have not been allowed to return to the country by the Socialist Republic of Romania, communist regime. Constantin Oțet
Constantin 'Tică' Oțet (24 December 1940 – 19 February 1999) was a Romanian football coach. Career Oțet was born in 1940 in Poroina, a village in Șimian commune, Mehedinți County. In 1959, Oțet began playing for Metalul Turnu Severin but several injuries forced him to end his playing career early at the age of 23. He won as manager the Juniors Romanian Championship in seasons 1968–69 and 1975–76, and as the second coach won the club's first league title in season 1973–1974. In the years 1969–1977 also worked as a teacher at the faculty of physical education and sport at the University of Craiova. As the second coach of FC Argeș Pitești won the Romanian championship in the 1978–1979 season, and in the 1980–1981 season as the second coach of Universitatea Craiova.
