Suruceni Stadium is a football (soccer), football stadium in Suruceni, Moldova. It currently serves as the home stadium for CSF Spartanii Sportul, Spartanii Sportul and FC Politehnica UTM Chișinău, Politehnica UTM of the Moldovan Super Liga, Liga. (in Romanian) It was the home of FC Sfîntul Gheorghe, Sfîntul Gheorghe, until its dissolution in 2023. Moldovan Super Liga
The Moldovan Liga, officially known as Liga 7777.md for sponsorship reasons, is an association football league that is the top division of Moldovan football league system. The competition was established in 1992, when Moldova became independent from the Soviet Union. It was formed in place of former Soviet republican competitions that existed since 1945. Before the Soviet occupation of Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina in 1940, clubs from modern Moldova competed in the Romanian football competitions, particularly Nistru Chișinău. There are currently eight teams in the competition. At the end of the season, the bottom club is relegated to Liga 1 and replaced by the lower league's champion. Sheriff Tiraspol – located in Transnistria – is the most successful league club with 21 titles, followed by Zimbru Chișinău with eight wins and Milsami Orhei with two wins. After gaining its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Moldova became a member of FIFA in 1994. Football is the most popular sport in Moldova. National team The national team has limited international success and have never qualified for a European Championship or World Cup. In UEFA Euro 2004 qualifiers, Moldova beat Austria 1–0 and Belarus 2–1, but lost to the Netherlands 2–1. In the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, their best results were winning against Belarus 2–0, and two home draws against Scotland and Norway. They also drew 2–2 against Bosnia and Herzegovina at home, and beat them 1–0 in the away game during the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifiers.
