CNews (; stylised as CNEWS, formerly i>Télé) is a French free-to-air opinion journalism, opinion channel launched on 4 November 1999 by Canal+ S.A., Canal+. It provides 24-hour national and global news coverage. It is the second most watched news network in France, after BFM TV and before La Chaîne Info, LCI and France Info (TV channel), France Info. The station is considered conservative to right-wing radical. i>Télé was renamed CNews on 27 February 2017. Since this change, it has taken a Conservatism, conservative editorial stance, and is often compared to the American TV channel Fox News. It has been many times warned by French regulators (Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication, ARCOM) for its failure to honestly and rigorously report news to the public or for illegal and reprehensible speeches. Christian Dutoit
Christian Jacques Dutoit (18 October 1940 – 5 September 2021) was a French journalist. Biography Dutoit was close with Pierre Desproges and made his career at the Office de Radiodiffusion Télévision Française (ORTF) in the 1960s and 70s. In 1981, he was appointed director of programs for . He also headed the development and launch of La Cinq in 1985. He became deputy managing director of TF1 in 1987 and was the founder of La Chaîne Info in 1993. In 1995, he designed and launched 18 channels in the AB Sat package and developed CNews, i>Télé for Groupe Canal+ in 1997. In 2002, he became director of productions for StudioCanal, Expand. From 2003 to 2009, Dutoit was a member of the ''Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel''. In 2009, he joined the French Economic, Social and Environmental Council. Regulatory Authority For Audiovisual And Digital Communication
The Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (; ARCOM) is the resulting from the merger on 1 January 2022 of the High Audiovisual Council (CSA) and the High Authority for the Distribution of Works and Protection of Rights on the Internet (Hadopi). ARCOM is responsible for both audiovisual and digital communications. Among its objectives are the fight against digital piracy, and illegal mirror sites. In addition, legislative measures have been taken to give the agency new powers in the fight against the illegal broadcasting of sports events and competitions. The far-right () tradition in France finds its origins in the Third Republic with Boulangism and the Dreyfus affair. In the 1880s, General Georges Boulanger, called "General Revenge" (), championed demands for military revenge against Imperial Germany as retribution for the defeat and fall of the Second French Empire during the Franco-Prussian War (1870–71).
