CKTV-DT (channel 12), branded ICI Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, is an Ici Radio-Canada Télé station in Saguenay, Quebec, Canada, serving the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. The station is owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (known in French as ). CKTV-DT's studios are located on Rue des Saguenéens in the former city of Chicoutimi adjacent to the Place du Royaume shopping centre, and its transmitter is located atop Mount Valin. History The station first aired on December 1, 1955, as CKRS-TV. It was originally owned by Radio Saguenay along with CKRS radio. It joined Radio-Canada's microwave network on October 28, 1957. Radio Saguenay sold off its radio station in 1981, but kept CKRS-TV until selling it to Cogeco on November 24, 1998. Cogeco adopted the current callsign the following year, on March 26, 1999. CFRS-DT, virtual channel 4.1 ( VHF digital channel 13), is a Noovo owned-and-operated television station licensed to Saguenay, Quebec, Canada, operating as a ''de facto'' semi-satellite of Montreal flagship CFJP-DT. Mount Valin
Mount Valin is the highest mountain of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region (as measured from sea level) in the Canada, Canadian province of Quebec. Situated from Chicoutimi, the mountain receives an average of of rain and of snow every year. Mount Valin is an important site used for transmission facilities for radio and television stations in the region. Canadian Communications Foundation
The Canadian Communications Foundation (CCF) was a Canadian nonprofit organization which documented the history of broadcasting in Canada, particularly radio and television networks, programs and broadcasters. The organization was established in 1967 and announced that it would begin wrapping up its work in 2023. Since 1995, the organization distributed its collection via its website. The CCF was established in 1967 by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. Its mission: to "commemorate throughout Canada the development of electronic communications". By 2020, the foundation started to wind down as its original mission was largely accomplished.
