CKRX-FM
CKRX-FM is a Canadian radio station that broadcasts a classic hits format at 102.3 FM in Fort Nelson, British Columbia. The station is branded as ''102.3 Summit'' and is owned by Vista Radio. The station originally began broadcasting on November 21, 1967, as CFNL operating at 590 AM, until the move to the FM dial was made in 1997. It originally aired a hot adult contemporary format under the ''Energy 102.3'' moniker until mid-2011, where it changed to an active rock format under a new moniker, ''102.3 The Bear''. It is the fourth radio station in Canada to use this moniker, after CFBR-FM in Edmonton, CKQB-FM in Ottawa (which changed owners on January 31, 2014, and format two months later), and CKNL-FM in Fort St. John. As part of a mass format reorganization by Bell Media, on May 18, 2021, CKRX flipped to adult hits under the '' Bounce'' branding. Vista Radio Ltd. (also formerly known as Vista Broadcast Group) is a Courtenay, British Columbia-based media company. Owned by Westerkirk Capital, Vista is the second-largest owner of radio stations in Canada. The company only owned stations in British Columbia until 2007, when it expanded outside the province by acquiring an existing station in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and launching a new one in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Bounce is a Canadian radio network, that airs on stations owned by Bell Media. It launched on May 18, 2021, with an adult hits format. The network currently broadcasts on five stations nationwide. The Canadian Communications Foundation (CCF) was a Canadian nonprofit organization which documented the history of broadcasting in Canada, particularly radio and television networks, programs and broadcasters. The organization was established in 1967 and announced that it would begin wrapping up its work in 2023. Since 1995, the organization distributed its collection via its website. The CCF was established in 1967 by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. Its mission: to "commemorate throughout Canada the development of electronic communications".
