CJWA-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 107.1 FM in Wawa, Ontario. The station broadcasts an adult contemporary format under the on-air brand ''JJAM FM''. History The original CJWA CJWA was originally launched in 1964 by Sault Ste. Marie's Highland Broadcasting as an AM station, broadcasting at 1240 kHz on the AM dial. The station aired a mixture of original programming and simulcasting of the Sault station CJIC and was a CBC Radio affiliate until 1985. In 1976, an ownership shuffle in the Sault gave CJWA to Huron Broadcasting, which converted the station's simulcast source to its own CKCY. On December 13, 1984, the CRTC approved a number of applications for a number of AM radio stations across Ontario including CJWA Wawa to increase their nighttime power from 250 watts to 1,000 watts. Canadian Communications Foundation
The Canadian Communications Foundation (CCF) was a Canadian nonprofit organization which documented the history of broadcasting in Canada, particularly radio and television networks, programs and broadcasters. The organization was established in 1967 and announced that it would begin wrapping up its work in 2023. Since 1995, the organization distributed its collection via its website. The CCF was established in 1967 by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. Its mission: to "commemorate throughout Canada the development of electronic communications". By 2020, the foundation started to wind down as its original mission was largely accomplished. Chapleau, Ontario
Chapleau is a township (Canada), township in Sudbury District, Ontario, Canada. It is the access point to one of the world's largest wildlife preserves. Chapleau has a population of 1,942 according to the 2021 Canadian census. The major industries within the town are the sawmill, logging mill, Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM) (formerly Tembec), and the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) rail yards. Marathon, Ontario
Marathon is a town in the Canadian province of Ontario, located in Thunder Bay District, on the north shore of Lake Superior north of Pukaskwa National Park. Geography Personal residences encompass an area starting from Lake Superior, and stretch out to a new subdivision near Penn Lake, an in-town campsite and beach in the eastern portion of the town. The Pic River is outside of the town's eastern limits. CFNO-FM is a Canadian radio station that broadcasts at 93.1 FM in Marathon, Ontario. The station broadcasts an adult contemporary format with the brand name ''CFNO Your Hometown Sound''. The station was launched in 1982 by North Superior Broadcasting. It was acquired by Dougall Media in 2002. Rebroadcasters CFNO serves a large portion of Northwestern Ontario through a network of rebroadcast transmitters. In 1986, CFNO received approval to add a transmitter at Nipigon/ Red Rock at 103.7 MHz. However, the station was advised to seek another frequency for the rebroadcaster instead. CFNO-FM eventually established a transmitter in Nipigon at 100.7 MHz. In 1988, CFNO received approval to add a transmitter, CFNO-FM-6, at Dubreuilville at 93.9 MHz. Ici Radio-Canada Première (formerly Première Chaîne) is a Canadian French-language radio network, the news and information service of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (known as Société Radio-Canada in French), the public broadcaster of Canada.
