CJFI-FM is a First Nations in Canada, First Nations community radio station operating at 107.1 MHz (FM broadcasting, FM) in Moose Factory, Ontario, Moose Factory, Ontario, Canada. The station is branded as ''The Island-Youth Radio''. History The station started broadcasting in the fall of 2011. CJFI-FM is officially owned by Moose Cree First Nation, but has been associated with the Moose River Broadcasting Association. It is a non-profit, community radio station. CJFI 107.1 The Island also streams online through the online streaming service MIXLR via its website and through Moose Cree First Nations home page. The radio station transmits at 50 watts with a 7 km radius. The Island currently broadcasts from the John R. Delaney Youth Centre in Moose Factory. FM broadcasting is a method of radio broadcasting using frequency modulation (FM). Moose Factory, Ontario
Moose Factory is a community in the Cochrane District, Ontario, Canada. It is located on Moose Factory Island, near the mouth of the Moose River, which is at the southern end of James Bay. It was the first English-speaking settlement in lands now making up Ontario and the second Hudson's Bay Company post to be set up in North America after Fort Rupert. On the mainland, across the Moose River, is the nearby community of Moosonee, which is accessible by water taxi in the summer, ice road in the winter, and chartered helicopter in the off-season (break-up or freeze-up). A private company also offers freighter-canoe ferry service across the Moose River. As of 2020, the MV Niska 1 ferry was operating between Moosonee and Moose Factory, carrying passengers and vehicles. The Moose Cree First Nation (formerly known as Moose Factory Band of Indians) ( cr, ᒨᓱᓂᔨ ᐃᓕᓕᐗᒃ, môsoniyi ililiwak) is a Cree First Nation band government in northern Ontario, Canada.
