CJCH-TV
CJCH-DT (channel 5) is a television station in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, part of the CTV Television Network. Owned and operated by network parent Bell Media, the station maintains studios on Robie and Russell Streets in Halifax, and its transmitter is located on Washmill Lake Drive on the city's west side. CJCH-DT is the flagship of the CTV Atlantic regional system, producing all of the system's programming except for some commercials and local news inserts on the other stations. CJCH-FM (101.3 MHz) is a commercial radio station in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The station broadcasts a Top 40/CHR format branded on-air as ''101.3 Virgin Radio'', and is owned by Bell Media. CJCH's studios and offices are located at the intersection of Russell and Agricola streets in Halifax (behind TV sister station CJCH-DT). The transmitter is located on Washmill Lake Drive in Clayton Park. History AM early years (1944-1978) The station was established on November 14, 1944 by '' The Halifax Chronicle'' at 1320 AM. It was the second radio station to sign on in Halifax, after CHNS, which was founded in 1926. The CTV Television Network, commonly known as CTV, is a Canadian English-language terrestrial television network. Gord Martineau
Gord Martineau (born September 23, 1947) is a Canadian television journalist. In April 2007, he received a lifetime achievement award from the RTNDA for 40 years in broadcasting. Martineau worked briefly in radio in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Montreal with CJAD, as well as CJCH-TV in Halifax and CFCF-TV in Montreal before heading to Toronto. At CFCF-TV he served as weekend anchor of "Pulse". In Toronto, he worked briefly for CFTO-TV but made his name as the senior anchor of Citytv's City''News'' (formerly City''Pulse'') newscast in Toronto. He was with the station since its inception, except for a few weeks in 1980 when he moved to Global Television Network as a news co-anchor for CIII. CIOO-FM is a Canadian adult contemporary formatted radio station, broadcasting at 100.1 FM in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The station uses the on-air brand name ''Move 100''. It was originally owned by Toronto based CHUM Limited until the company's buy-out by CTVglobemedia in 2007, and then Bell Media in 2011. CTV Atlantic (formerly known as the Atlantic Television, or ATV) is a system of four television stations in the Maritimes, owned and operated by the CTV Television Network, a division of Bell Media. Despite the name, it is not available on basic cable or analog in Newfoundland and Labrador even though that province is part of Atlantic Canada. CITY-DT (channel 57) is a television station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, serving as the flagship station of the Citytv network. It is owned and operated by network parent Rogers Sports & Media alongside Omni Television outlets CFMT-DT (channel 47) and CJMT-DT (channel 40). An independent station is a type of television station broadcasting in the United States or Canada that is not affiliated with any broadcast television network; most commonly, these stations carry a mix of syndicated, brokered and in some cases, local programming to fill time periods when network programs typically would air. Steve Murphy (born June 18, 1960) is a Canadian news anchor. He is the former anchor of weekday editions of CTV News at 6:00 p.m. on the stations of CTV Atlantic. Early life Steve Murphy was born Stephen Douglas Murphy on June 18, 1960, in Saint John, New Brunswick, to W. Douglas Murphy and Frances Lillian Theresa Murphy (née Legere) (December 8, 1927 - August 21, 2004).
