CIYN-FM is a classic rock radio station in Kincardine, Ontario, broadcasting on 95.5 FM. History The station was launched as ''The Coast FM'' on February 27, 2006, by 2079966 Ontario Ltd., 70.1% owned by local businessmen Brian Cooper and Danny McCarthy, and 29.9% owned by the Haliburton Broadcasting Group. On February 17, 2009, the station applied to the CRTC to add a transmitter in Port Elgin operating at 90.9 MHz and was denied on May 13, 2009. The station reapplied to add a transmitter in Port Elgin on January 15, 2010, which received approval on March 12, 2010. The new Port Elgin transmitter would operate on the frequency 90.9 MHz. Also in February 2009, the station's owners announced a tentative deal to sell the station to My Broadcasting Corporation, which received approval on May 13, 2009. My Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) is a Canadian broadcasting company founded in 2004 by Jon Pole and Andrew Dickson. Based in Renfrew, Ontario, the company operates a number of radio stations in small to medium-sized markets in Ontario. History The roots of My Broadcasting Corporation date back to Ottawa Valley Radio in the mid-1980s ( CKOA Arnprior and CKOB Renfrew). Those stations were owned by Jamie Pole, the father of current MBC co-owner and President Jon Pole. Jon's business partner and Executive VP of MBC, Andrew Dickson, was an announcer at CKOB in the late '70's and then filled in as morning announcer when Jamie Pole owned the station. Goderich, Ontario
Goderich ( or ) is a town in the Canadian province of Ontario and is the county seat of Huron County. The town was founded by John Galt and William "Tiger" Dunlop of the Canada Company in 1827. First laid out in 1828, the town is named after Frederick John Robinson, 1st Viscount Goderich, who was prime minister of the United Kingdom at the time. It was incorporated as a town in 1850. As of the Canada 2021 Census, the population is 7,881 in a land area of 8.54 square kilometres. Canadian Communications Foundation
The Canadian Communications Foundation (CCF) was a Canadian nonprofit organization which documented the history of broadcasting in Canada, particularly radio and television networks, programs and broadcasters. The organization was established in 1967 and announced that it would begin wrapping up its work in 2023. Since 1995, the organization distributed its collection via its website. The CCF was established in 1967 by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. Its mission: to "commemorate throughout Canada the development of electronic communications".
