CHSM (1250 AM, ''AM 1250 Radio'') is a radio station broadcasting an easy listening format. Licensed to Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada, it serves southeastern Manitoba. It began broadcasting at 7 pm on April 16, 1964 and was originally owned and operated by Southern Manitoba Broadcasting Co. Ltd. The station is currently owned by Golden West Broadcasting. This station is also targeted to the nearby Winnipeg market, but since CFRW flipped to sports in 2010, CHSM is the only AM music station in Winnipeg. The station simulcasts some programming from its sister stations CFAM and CJRB CJRB is a Canadian radio station broadcasting an easy listening/oldies format at 1220 AM. Steinbach () ( Plautdietsch: /ˈʃte̞nbah/ or /ˈʃte̞nbax/) is a city located about south-east of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Steinbach is the third-largest city in Manitoba, with a population of 17,806, and the largest community in the Eastman region. CFRW (1290 AM) is a radio station in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Owned by Bell Media, it is co-located with its sister stations CKMM-FM and CFWM-FM on 1445 Pembina Highway. Its transmitter is located near Oak Bluff along Road 54 off McGillivray Boulevard. History Early years On November 1, 1963, the station first signed on as CJQM. At the same time, FM sister station CJQM-FM also came on the air. The two stations simulcast an easy listening format. CJQM-AM-FM were owned by Winnipeg Broadcast Associates Ltd.
