CFMZ-FM (''The New Classical 96.3 FM'') is an FM radio station that is licensed to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Broadcasting on 96.3 MHz, the station is owned by ZoomerMedia and airs a classical music radio format. CFMZ's studios are located on Jefferson Avenue in Liberty Village, while its transmitter is located atop First Canadian Place in downtown Toronto. CFMZ-FM, along with its sister stations, CFMX-FM in Cobourg and CFMO-FM in Collingwood, are among only five commercial broadcasters in Canada with a purely classical music format. CFMO-FM (''Classical 102.9'') is a radio station broadcasting a classical music format on 102.9 MHz FM in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. The station is owned by ZoomerMedia, through licensee MZ Media Inc. It is largely a semi-satellite of ZoomerMedia's CFMZ-FM 96.3 in Toronto. History On February 29, 2012, ZoomerMedia received a licence from the CRTC. In that same decision, a competing application by Evanov Communications for a soft adult contemporary station on 102.9 was denied. The station was originally to operate at 104.9 MHz; however, Bayshore Broadcasting was approved to use the 104.9 frequency in Shelburne, forcing CFMO-FM to find an alternate frequency. Moses Znaimer (; born 1942) is a Canadian media executive. He is the co-founder and former head of Citytv, the first independent television station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the current head of ZoomerMedia. Early life and education Znaimer was born to Jewish parents (Aron Znaimer and Chaya Znaimer née Epelsweig) from Latvia and Poland, who had fled the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union and relocated to Kulob in the Soviet republic of Tajikistan. Following the war, his family lived in a displaced persons camp in Germany, arriving in Halifax before ultimately ending up in Montreal in 1948 where they settled in a third-floor flat on Montréal’s storied Saint Urbain Street.
