Clark County Fire Department
The Clark County Fire Department (CCFD) provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the unincorporated areas of Clark County, Nevada, United States. The cities of Las Vegas, Boulder City, North Las Vegas, Henderson and Mesquite each have their own fire department, but emergency management is provided by the county government. History In 1953, Las Vegas was growing rapidly with a growth from 8,422 residents in 1940 to over 64,000 in 1960. Meanwhile, Clark County had reached a population of 127,016. The unprecedented growth created a greater need for fire protection. The Clark County Fire Department was formally created on November 23, 1953. The revenues from the towns of Winchester and Paradise provided funds for the construction of the first station. Fire Administration The CCFD is headed by a Fire Chief, currently John C. Caye Caulker
Caye Caulker (Spanish: Cayo Caulker) is a small limestone coral island off the coast of Belize in the Caribbean Sea measuring about (north to south) by less than (east to west). The town on the island is known by the name Caye Caulker Village. The population of Caye Caulker is approximately 2,000 people today and still growing. Caye Caulker is located approximately north-northeast of Belize City, and is accessible by high-speed water taxi or small plane. In recent years, the island has become a popular destination for backpackers and other tourists. There are over 50 hotels and a number of restaurants and shops. Geography The island is made up of a sand bar over a limestone shelf. An underwater cave named Giant Cave is found below the Caye in the limestone. The Citizens Centre for Freedom and Democracy is a Canadian non-profit organization based in Edmonton, Alberta, claiming to promote responsible government and advocating provincial rights, Senate reform, and judicial restraint. History The Citizens Centre for Freedom and Democracy was established in 2003 by Link Byfield, a journalist and businessman. He is best known as a writer, editor, and publisher of the ''Alberta Report'' magazine, and one of Alberta's senators-in-waiting. Byfield was the centre's founding chairman. Its operations manager is Craig Docksteader, formerly of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. In October 2006, the centre hosted the Calgary Congress, which explored Canadian federalism.
