CBeebies Original Programming
CBeebies is a British free-to-air Public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom, public broadcast children's television channel owned and operated by the BBC. It is also the brand used for all BBC content targeted for children aged six years and under. Its sister channel, CBBC, is intended for older children aged six to twelve. It broadcasts every day from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, timesharing with BBC Four. History On 20 November 2001, the CBeebies name was officially revealed as part of the split of the already-existing CBBC block and would be used as both a children's block and a digital channel. The CBeebies channel launched on 11 February 2002 alongside the CBBC, CBBC channel, as a spinoff from BBC Children's and Education, the BBC's children's television strand. 1080i
In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. Each of these lines contributes to the overall detail and clarity of the image. The letter "i" stands for Interlaced video, interlaced. This is a technique where the image is not displayed all at once. Instead, the frame is split into two fields. BBC Choice was a British digital television channel which was owned by the BBC and was launched on 23 September 1998. It was the first United Kingdom, British TV channel to broadcast exclusively in Digital television, digital format, as well as the BBC's second non-analogue-terrestrial channel launch (following on from the BBC News (British TV channel), BBC News channel in 1997). BBC Kids (Australian TV Channel)
BBC Kids was an Australian pay television channel using the BBC Kids brand, which was exclusive to Telstra's Fetch TV. The channel is aimed at 6 to 10-year-olds and broadcasts comedy, documentaries, drama, entertainment and nature shows that were originally aired on CBBC in the UK. History On 30 April 2020, Disney closed their Australian children's channels (Disney Channel and Disney Junior), and Cartoon Network and Boomerang became bound to an exclusive agreement with Foxtel in April 2021. This left Fetch TV with little children's content. In response it commissioned BBC Studios to create a domestic BBC Kids channel. BBC Kids, along with NickMusic, launched on April 24, 2021. BBC HD was an international high-definition television channel owned by BBC Studios. In many countries the channel has been replaced by other BBC Studios operations. At present, the channel is only available in selected cruise ships and within the maritime industry. It first launched in Australia. An Australian version of BBC HD was broadcast on the Foxtel HD+ service which was made available to subscribers on 2 June 2008 and was officially launched on 22 June 2008. BBC UKTV is an Australian pay television channel in Australia and New Zealand, screening British entertainment programming, sourced mainly from the archives of the BBC, RTL Group (mainly Talkback Thames material) and ITV plc.
