History Planning for CBWT started in November 1952, when the Government of Canada announced its intention of setting up a television station in Winnipeg. The station was announced by J. R. Finlay at a Cosmopolitan Club meeting at the Marlborough Hotel on September 16, 1953. CBW is a non-commercial Class A Clear-channel station reserved for Canada under the North American Regional Broadcasting Agreement (NARBA) allocations. CBW's studios are located on Portage Avenue ( Winnipeg Route 85) in Downtown Winnipeg, while its transmitters are located near Beaudry Provincial Park in Springstein.
