Canadian Apartment Properties REIT (CAPREIT) is a Canadian real estate investment trust headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. CAPREIT is the largest publicly traded apartment landlord in Canada, with over $17.7 billion in assets, as of December 2021. As of 2022, CAPREIT owns or has interests in approximately 67,000 residential apartments, townhomes and manufactured housing units across Canada, the Netherlands and Republic of Ireland, Ireland. CAPREIT financialized the trailer park concept beginning with an acquisition in 2007 which grew to 6,456 “manufactured home community” (MHC) suites by 2017. Paid $500 million in 2004 to acquire smaller rival Residential Equities Real Estate Investment Trust. Olympic Village (Montreal)
The Olympic Village is a twin-tower structure in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, built as the athletes' residence for the 1976 Summer Olympics. Designed by architects Roger D'Astous and Luc Durand, it was built massively over budget by a consortium of architects, including Joseph Zappia, who was later convicted of fraud in connection with his involvement with the building. Construction was overseen by René Lépine, Chairman of Groupe Lépine, and his associates through the company Zarolega Inc. Construction overruns were so drastic that the Olympic Installations Board seized the complex after its original estimate of $30 million ballooned to $90 million. The Olympic Village is situated in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, with the entrance on the northeast corner of Sherbrooke Street East and Viau Street and the building extending along Sherbrooke Street as far as Assomption Boulevard. The S&P/TSX 60 Index is a stock market index of 60 large companies listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Gina Cody
Gina Parvaneh Cody is a Canadian-Iranian engineer and business leader. In 1989, Cody became the first woman in Canada to earn a PhD in building engineering. In 2018, following her donation of $15 million, Concordia University renamed its faculty of engineering and computer science after her (thGina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, making it the first university engineering and computer science faculty to be named after a woman in Canada, and one of the first internationally.
