The district includes all of Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa counties, western El Dorado County, and eastern Stanislaus, Madera and Fresno counties. Cities in the district include most of Modesto, northern Turlock, northern Fresno, Oakdale, Hughson, Riverbank, Sonora, Jackson, and Placerville. The 2022 United States House of Representatives elections in California were held on November 8, 2022, to elect representatives for the 52 seats in California (reduced from 53 in the 2020 United States redistricting cycle, redistricting cycle following the 2020 United States Census). This marked the first time in the state's history where it lost a seat. This was the second election using congressional districts drawn by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission (after 2012 United States House of Representatives elections in California, 2012 following the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census). Dave's Redistricting App (DRA) is an online web app originally created by Dave Bradlee that allows anyone to simulate redistricting a U.S. state's congressional and legislative districts. Purpose According to Bradlee, the software was designed to "put power in people's hands," and so that they "can see how the process works, so it's a little less mysterious than it was 10 years ago." Bradlee has noticed that many citizens are taking this process seriously and using his app to create legitimate redistricting maps that could be put in place. Some websites have called Bradlee the pioneer and cause of the rise of do-it-yourself redistricting. Sonora is the county seat of Tuolumne County, California. Riverbank is a city in Stanislaus County, California, United States. The population was 24,623 at the 2020 census, up from 15,826 at the 2000 census.
