Boisbriand () is an off-island suburb of Montreal, at the entrance of the Lower-Laurentides in southwestern Quebec, Canada, on the north shore of the Rivière des Mille Îles in the Thérèse-De Blainville Regional County Municipality. Although relatively small, Boisbriand is bisected by three highways: Highway 13 on the west, Highway 15 on the east, and Highway 640 in the middle/north. Michel-Sidrac Dugué De Boisbriand
Michel-Sidrac Dugué de Boisbriand (; 1638 – December 1688) was a soldier and seigneur in New France who briefly served as interim governor of Montreal in 1670. His son Pierre Dugué de Boisbriand was a French colonial Governor of Louisiana. Biography The son of Pierre Dugué de La Boulardière and of Perrine de Chambellé, he was born and baptized in Puceul, near Nantes, in the Kingdom of France in 1638. He started his military career in the Montagu regiment as a lieutenant. Later, he became a captain in the Chambellé regiment under his uncle's command. His company was incorporated into the Carignan-Salières Regiment by Louis XIV and sent to Quebec City in New France where they arrived in September 1665. Dugué served as Governor of Montreal from spring until August 1670, when François-Marie Perrot arrived. In 1672, he was granted the seigneury of Senneville, which he sold in 1679. Rosemère () is an affluent suburb of Montreal, in southwestern Quebec, Canada on the north shore of the Rivière des Mille Îles in the Thérèse-De Blainville Regional County Municipality. The town is noted for its green look, due to the high density of trees. Some wooded areas in the town have been left intact as the town has grown around them. Homes are mostly upscale, varying from renovated cottages to unique character homes. It is almost entirely residential, with no significant industries. Rivière Des Mille Îles
The Rivière des Mille Îles (, "Thousand Islands River") is a channel of the Ottawa River in southwestern Quebec, Canada and runs into the Rivière des Prairies. It is long. It divides Île Jésus (the city of Laval) from the North Shore, the northern mainland suburbs of Montreal, such as Deux-Montagnes, Saint-Eustache, Boisbriand, Rosemère, Lorraine, Bois-des-Filion, Sainte-Thérèse, and Terrebonne. The river rises at the narrowing of the Lake of Two Mountains, where the Ottawa River widens as it feeds into the St Lawrence at Montreal, and flows west to east. It joins the Rivière des Prairies at the eastern tip of Île Jésus, which shortly thereafter joins the St. Lawrence at the eastern tip of the Island of Montreal. As its name suggests, the river contains many small islands which are part of the Hochelaga Archipelago.
