Belarus In The Eurovision Song Contest
Belarus was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 16 times, making its debut in and having its last appearance in . The Belarusian participating broadcaster in the contest was the Belarusian Television and Radio Company (BTRC). Since 1 July 2021, Belarus has been unable to participate in the contest following the suspension of BTRC's membership in the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The country's first appearance in a final was in , with the song " Work Your Magic" performed by Dmitry Koldun, where it placed sixth; this remains Belarus' only top ten placement. Angelica Agurbash
Angelica Anatolyevna Yalinskaya (; ; born 17 May 1970), better known as Angelica Agurbash (; ), is a Belarusian singer and former model best known internationally for representing Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. Biography Agurbash was born the city of Minsk, Belarus, during the period the city was within the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic of the Soviet Union. In 1988, she won the first Miss Belarus title when she was a student of the Belarusian Academy of Arts. Between 1990 and 1995, she was in the band '' Verasy''. In 1991, Angelica earned her second title "Miss Photo USSR" becoming the most photographed model in Belarus. After Angelica left ''Verasy'', she has had numerous hit singles as well as releasing three albums – "Paper Moon", "Night Without a Dream" and "For You". We Are The Heroes
Belarus was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song "We Are the Heroes" written by Vladimir Karyakin and Dmitry Karyakin. The song was performed by the band Litesound. The Belarusian entry for the 2012 contest in Baku, Azerbaijan was selected through the national final ''Eurofest 2012'', organised by the Belarusian participating broadcaster Belarusian Television and Radio Company (BTRC). The national final was a televised production which consisted of a semi-final and a final held on 21 December 2011 and 14 February 2012, respectively. Fifteen competing acts participated in the semi-final where the top five entries qualified to the final. In the final, "All My Life" performed by Alyona Lanskaya was initially selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a jury panel and public televoting, however the entry was later disqualified due to vote rigging and replaced by runner-up "We Are the Heroes" performed by Litesound. Litesound
Litesound is a Belarusian pop rock band formed in 2005 by brothers Dmitry and Vladimir Karyakin. In 2010, they released their debut album ''Going to Hollywood''. Two years later, in 2012, the band was chosen to represent Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest, performing the song " We Are the Heroes". As of 2018, they released their second studio album ''Litesound''. History Early years and debut album The band, originally formed as an acoustic duo, was formed in 2002 by brothers Dmitry and Vladimir Karyakin. In 2005, the band was changed into a quartet and became what is known as Litesound. The additions included bassist Mario Gulinsky and drummer Sergey Genko. Belarus was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "I Love Belarus" written by Evgeny Oleynik and Svetlana Geraskova. The song was performed by Anastasia Vinnikova, who was internally selected by the Belarusian participating broadcaster Belarusian Television and Radio Company (BTRC) to represent the nation at the 2011 contest in Düsseldorf, Germany. Anastasia Vinnikova and the song "Born in Byelorussia" were initially announced as the Belarusian entry on 28 February 2011, however the song was reworked and retitled as "I Am Belarusian". Anastasia Vinnikova, (, ''Anastasija Vinnikava''; ) born 15 April 1991 is a Belarusian singer. She represented her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "I Love Belarus", but failed to qualify to the final. History Anastasia Vinnikova was born in Dzyarzhynsk, BSSR on 15 April 1991. Anastasia attended the Minsk State Linguistic University, School of Translation and Interpreting. Eurovision Anastasia participated in Eurovision in 2011 with the song "I Love Belarus". The song was written by Evgeny Oleinik. Originally, Vinnikova was to perform the song "Born in Bielorussia" until it was discovered that the song had been previously performed in the summer of 2010. Robert Wells (composer)
Robert Henry Arthur Wells (born 7 April 1962) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and musician best known for the musical ', which contains elements of rock, classical and boogie-woogie. Early life and career Wells was born in Stockholm. He attended the Adolf Fredrik's Music School in Stockholm at the age of 7 in 1969 and four years later, at the age of 11, became the youngest person ever to attend the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. At the age of 16 in 1978, Wells won two major Swedish talent contests. Wells has also participated twice in Melodifestivalen. Wells was the musical director of two Swedish television shows. Wells appeared regularly on ''Så ska det låta'', the Swedish version of ''The Lyrics Board''. Wells's first musical tour was with the Leningrad Orchestra in 1990. Wells's music was chosen as the official television theme music for the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing. Petr Petrovich Elfimov (, ''Piotr Jalfimaŭ'', , ''Pyotr Yelfimov'') is a singer from Belarus who represented his nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, Russia. He won the national selection of Belarus on 19 January 2009 with the rock/pop song ''Eyes That Never Lie''. The song competed in the first semi-final as the fourth act. On 16 May it failed to win a place in the final, finishing 13th of 18 acts, receiving a total of 25 points. However, he has participated in the contest in the past as one of the backing singers for Aleksandra and Konstantin in the 2004 contest. He was the Grand Prix winner of the 2004 Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. From 1999 to 2007 Pyotr played the student game KVN.
