Babek District
Babek District () is one of the 7 districts of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. The district borders the districts of Julfa, Shahbuz, Kangarli, Nakhchivan city, as well as the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia and the East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan provinces of Iran. Its capital and largest city is Babek. As of 2020, the district had a population of 76,200. History It was formerly known as ''Nakhchivan District'' (till 1978). The district named in honour of Babak Khorramdin, an Iranian who led a 23-year-long uprising against the Abbasid Caliphate in Iranian Azerbaijan. Tumbul is a village and municipality in the Nakhchivan (city), Nakhchivan city of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan. It is located 5 km in the south from the city center, on the Nakhchivan plain. Its population is mainly busy with grape-growing. There are secondary school, club, library and a medical center in the village. It has a population of 1,595. The municipality consists of the villages of Tumbul and Haciniyyət. Qaraxanbəyli, Nakhchivan
Qaraxanbəyli (also, Garakhanbayli, Karakhanbeyli and Karakhan-begly) is a village and municipality in the Nakhchivan city of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan. Qaraçuq (also, Garachug, Garachyg, Garachukh, and Karachukh) is a village and municipality in the Nakhchivan city of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan. Bulqan (also, Bulgan and Bulghan) is a village and municipality in the Nakhchivan city of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan. It is located 5 km in the south from the city center, on the bank of the Araz River. Its population is busy with grain-growing, vegetable-growing, animal husbandry, fruit-growing and horticulture. Araz Water Junction
The Aras Dam (; ) is an embankment dam on the Aras River along the border of Iran and Azerbaijan. It is located downstream of Poldasht in West Azerbaijan Province, Iran and Nakhchivan City in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan. The primary purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and water supply.
