Atakum
Atakum is a municipality and district of Samsun Province, Turkey. Its area is 351 km2, and its population is 242,171 (2022). Atakum is a largely middle class suburban district located to the west of the primary city of Samsun and further suburban Ondokuzmayıs. The city's population expanded rapidly beginning in the 1990s and continues to grow at a healthy pace. The city consists largely of middle class housing blocks with ground floor retail and a mix of office uses. In 2009, the city undertook a significant waterfront redevelopment campaign which entailed the construction of a beachfront and pedestrian promenade. Construction of the waterfront promenade and Tram was led by former Samsun Province governor Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz. The city is served by the Samsun Tram which runs down the median of İsmet İnönü Caddesi. Atakum Olympic Swimming Pool
Atakum Olympic Swimming Pool () is an indoor Olympic-size swimming pool in Atakum district in the city of Samsun, northern Turkey. It was opened in the presence of Minister of Youth and Sports Akif Çağatay Kılıç on October 19, 2015. Built on a land covering , it cost around 20 million (approx. $7 million). The main pool has ten lanes and the warm-up pool six lanes. The facility also has a fitness hall and a spa. It seats 1,000 spectators, including 100 for VIP, 100 for the media, 100 for accredited sportspeople, and 100 for physically handicapped people. Membership can be got and payment made via the Ministry of Youth and Sports website, but only by those with Turkish id, and non-members and guests are not allowed. Samsun Tram
The Samsun Light Rail Transit System (Samsun Tramway) is a light rail transit system located in Samsun and Atakum, Turkey. The Samsun Tramway connects Ondokuz Mayıs University to Samsun Stadium. The system was constructed in three phases between 2010 and 2019. The tram line is the only urban rail system in the Black Sea Region pending the construction of the Trabzon Tram. The system carries 90,000 passengers daily and is one of the busiest tram systems in Turkey. Güzelyalı, Atakum
Guzelyalı is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Atakum, Samsun Province, Turkey. It is an affluent residential neighbourhood. Ondokuz Mayıs University Olympic Swimming Pool
Ondokuz Mayıs University has an indoor olympic-size swimming pool in Atakum district in the city of Samsun, northern Turkey. Atakum Olympic Swimming Pool is also in the district. Opened in 2001, the pool has also been used for research, and was closed for renovation in 2021 and reopened in 2024. Swimmers not at the university can also join. Bafra
Bafra is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Samsun Province, Turkey. Covering about 1,500 km2, and with over 140,000 inhabitants it is a settlement located from the Black Sea, in the fertile Kızılırmak Delta.
