Amillennialism
Amillennialism or amillenarism is a chillegorism, chillegoristic Christian eschatology, eschatological position in Christianity which holds that there will be no Millennialism, millennial reign of the Messianic Age, righteous on Earth. This view contrasts with both postmillennialism, postmillennial and, especially, with premillennialism, premillennial interpretations of Revelation 20 and various other prophetic and eschatological passages of the Bible. Christian eschatology is a minor branch of study within Christian theology which deals with the doctrine of the "last things", especially the Second Coming of Christ, or Parousia. Premillennialism
Premillennialism, in Christian eschatology, is the belief that Jesus will physically return to the Earth (the Second Coming) before the Millennium, heralding a literal thousand-year messianic age of peace. Premillennialism is based upon a literal interpretation of Revelation 20 () in the New Testament, which describes Jesus's reign in a period of a thousand years. Premillennialism is in contrast to amillennialism and postmillennialism beliefs. Amillennialism interprets as pertaining to the present time, and holds that Christ currently reigns in Heaven with the departed saints. Chillegorism
Chillegorism (Ancient Greek: and ) is a millenarian doctrine which is the opposite of chiliasm. It is based on a figurative interpretation of the prophecy of Revelation 20:1–4 about the millennial reign of Christ together with the righteous. Definition Chillegorism does not fall under one general definition acceptable to its adepts, and it is difficult to come up with a summary of this doctrine. To understand the diversity of chillegorical approaches, it makes sense to consider the classification of chillegorism in its main forms. Alexander Lopukhin
Aleksandr Pavlovich Lopukhin (Saratov Governorate, 10 October 1852 – Saint Petersburg, 1904) was a Russian Orthodox Bible commentator best known for the Lopukhin Bible (1904). Lopukhin was born in Saratov. He studied at the Saint Petersburg Theological Academy, graduating in 1878. From 1879-1881 he went to America as a clergyman at the church attached to the Russian embassy in New York. Returning to St. Petersburg, he was professor of comparative theology from 1883–1885, and then of ancient history from 1885-1904. His main work, the Lopukhin Bible, a three-volume Bible with commentary, was published in 1904. He is buried at the Nikolskoe Cemetery of Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
