Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament is a four-day cricket tournament in Afghanistan played between regional teams, each representing a number of Afghan provinces. Up to and including the 2016–17 Tournament, the matches were not given first-class status. However, at an International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in February 2017, first-class status was awarded to all future matches, starting with the 2017–18 tournament. It is named after founder of the Durrani Empire, Ahmad Shah Durrani. Afghanistan Cricket Board
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB; , ; formerly Afghanistan Cricket Federation) is the official governing body of cricket in Afghanistan. It is Afghanistan's representative at the International Cricket Council (ICC) and was an associate member of ICC from June 2013 until becoming a full member in June 2017. Before that it was an affiliate member and has been a member of that body since 2001. It is also a member of the Asian Cricket Council. History Cricket in Afghanistan was first played during the 19th century Anglo-Afghan Wars, with British troops reported as having played in Kabul in 1839. The Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Stadium () is located in the eastern Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan, a short distance to the east of Jalalabad in the new Ghazi Amanullah Town. Khōst () is the capital of Khost Province in Afghanistan. It is the largest city in the southeastern part of the country, and also the largest in the region of Loya Paktia. Khost International Cricket Stadium (), also referred to as Khost Cricket Stadium (), is a cricket stadium in Khost, Afghanistan. It is owned and operated by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). Work on the cricket ground was completed on 30 December 2016, with more than 50,000 spectators present in the inaugural ceremony, a record crowd for any sport played in the country. Kandahar International Cricket Stadium
Kandahar International Cricket Stadium () is a cricket stadium in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The stadium was built on 44 acres of land in the heart of Aino Meyna, a new suburb of Kandahar. The land was donated by Mahmood Karzai to the Afghanistan Cricket Board in 2012. In August 2014, the Government of India approved the grant of $1 million for the construction of the stadium under the Small Development Project Scheme. Construction of the stadium was delayed for two years but has resumed in early 2016, and is expected to be completed before the summer of 2017. As of October 17, 2016, about 70% of the construction work has been completed. It is expected that once the stadium opens, cricket will become more popular in southern Afghanistan.
