2007 Polaris Music Prize
The 2007 edition of the Canadian Polaris Music Prize was presented on September 24, 2007, at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. The winning album was Patrick Watson's '' Close to Paradise''. According to CBC News, "finalists were drawn from submissions by more than 170 music journalists, reviewers and broadcasters across Canada." Sebastian Bach
Sebastian Philip Bierk (born April 3, 1968), known professionally as Sebastian Bach, is a Canadian-American singer who achieved mainstream success as the frontman of the hard rock band Skid Row from 1987 to 1996. He has acted on Broadway and has made appearances in film and television such as ''Trailer Park Boys'', '' The Masked Singer'' and ''Gilmore Girls''. He continues his music career as a solo artist. ''Uncover Me'' is the seventh album from Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden, released in 2007. "Counterfeit Heart" is the only track written by Jann Arden (co-written with SHeDAISY's Kristyn Osborn). Three additional tracks from these sessions, "Moon River", "What the World Needs Now", and "End of the World", are available from her Myspace site. The album was her best selling-record in Canada in a decade. Lead single " Bring the Boys Home" (originally by Freda Payne) became a Top 10 hit in her homeland. Jann Arden (born Jann Arden Anne Richards; March 27, 1962) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, author and actress. She is best known for her signature ballads, " Could I Be Your Girl" and " Insensitive", which is her biggest hit to date, as well as other ballads, such as "Cherry Popsicle" and "I Would Die for You". Early life and education Jann Arden was born in Calgary and moved as a child to Springbank, Alberta, where she attended Springbank Community High School. Apostle Of Hustle
Apostle of Hustle was a Canadian indie rock group, formed as a side project in 2001 by Andrew Whiteman, who has also been in Bourbon Tabernacle Choir and Que Vida. He currently plays as the lead guitarist for the indie supergroup Broken Social Scene. History After a two-month stay in Cuba, where he learned to play the Cuban guitar tres, Whiteman returned to Toronto to resume writing and recording with Broken Social Scene. Wanting to create the music inspired by his time in Cuba, Whiteman recruited Julian Brown and Dean Stone and created Apostle Of Hustle. The Acorn (band)
The Acorn is the music project of singer-songwriter and musician Rolf-Carlos Klausener formed in Ottawa, Ontario in 2003. Their music spanned numerous genres, from art-folk and indie, to minimal electro and folk-rock, and members played with numerous other bands. Their songs have charted on Canadian campus charts and have been in rotation on CBC Radio 3 and The Verge.
