Börje Wallberg
Senior Colonel Karl Gustaf ''Börje'' Wallberg (28 February 1923 in Södertälje – 19 December 2014) was a Swedish military officer and philatelist who was added to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 1994. Wallberg formed Gold medal award-winning collections of Mongolia, classic Korea, North Korea, Cambodia and Laos. He won the Strandell Medal of the Philatelic Society of Sweden and the Personal Medal of King Carl-XVI-Gustaf. Wallberg pursued a military career in the Swedish Army from 1946 to 1983, a.o. serving as commander of the Norrland Logistic Regiment from 1972 to 1974 and as Inspector of the Swedish Army Service Troops from 1974 to 1983. Swedish Army
The Swedish Army ( sv, svenska armén) is the land force of the Swedish Armed Forces. History Svea Life Guards dates back to the year 1521, when the men of Dalarna chose 16 young able men as body guards for the insurgent nobleman Gustav Vasa in the Swedish War of Liberation against the Danish-dominated Union of Kalmar, thus making the present-day Life Guards one of the world's oldest regiments still on active duty. In 1901, Sweden introduced conscription. The conscription system was abolished in 2010 but reinstated in 2017. Curt Sjöö
Lieutenant General Curt Ove Leonard Sjöö (born 16 March 1937) is a retired Swedish Army officer. Sjöö's senior commands include Chief of the Army Staff (1988–1990) and military commander of the Upper Norrland Military District (1990–1992) and of the Northern Military District (1993–1996). He also served as Chief of His Majesty's Military Staff from 1997 to 2003. Early life Sjöö was born on 16 March 1937 in Eksjö Parish, Jönköping County, Sweden, the son of Ernst Sjöö and his wife Ester (née Isaksson). He passed ''studentexamen'' in Eksjö in 1955. The Roll of Distinguished Philatelists (RDP) is a philatelic award of international scale, created by the Philatelic Congress of Great Britain in 1921. The Roll consists of five pieces of parchment to which the signatories add their names. Selection of the signatories Those who have assisted the development of philately through their research, expertise or giving their time can be candidates to sign the Roll if they are sponsored by one of the existing signatories. Norrland Logistic Battalion
The Norrland Logistic Battalion ( sv, Norrlands trängbataljon, Trängbat/I 5), previously Norrland Logistic Corps ( sv, Norrlands trängkår, T 3) was a Swedish Army logistic unit operating between 1893 and 2004. The unit was first based in Stockholm, then for over 100 years in Sollefteå and finally in Östersund. History The unit was raised 1893 as a battalion and förlades till Stockholm. Sollefteå municipal community (''municipalsamhälle'') offered the Swedish state to locate the logistic battalion to a couple of agricultural properties at Remsle mo next to the northern shore of the Ångerman River, and by a decision on 17 September 1893, 57 hectares and 3 are, were handed over free of charge to the state provided that Norrland Logistic Battalion was actually located in Sollefteå.
