Béryl Gastaldello
Béryl Émilie Paulette Gastaldello (born 16 February 1995) is a French Swimming (sport), swimmer and French national record holder in the 50-meter backstroke who competed for Texas A&M University, and participated in the 2016 and 2020 Olympics in freestyle and stroke events. Excelling in international competition, she was a five-time gold medal winner in individual and relay freestyle events at the European Championships. Gastaldello was born 16 February 1996 in Southern coastal Marseille, to swimmers Véronique Jardin and Éric Gastaldello. Her paternal grandmother Amélie Mirkowitch was also a swimmer. She attended Académie de Nice, and grew up in Miramas, France, 35 miles Northeast of Marseille. She started swimming at the age of 8 and began serious training when she reached 16. Freestyle Swimming
Freestyle is a category of Swimming (sport), swimming competition, defined by the rules of World Aquatics, in which competitors are subject to only a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with and reaching , also known as the mile. The term 'freestyle stroke' is sometimes used as a synonym for 'front crawl', as front crawl is the fastest surface swimming stroke. It is now the most common stroke used in freestyle competitions. 2024 World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25 M)
The 17th World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m), World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25 m) was taken place from 10 to 15 December 2024 in Budapest, Hungary at the Danube Arena, Duna Arena. Swimming events in the championships were conducted in a 25-metre indoor (Short course (swimming), short course) pool. The 4×50 m freestyle relay and 4×50 m medley relay for men and women were removed from the event lineups, and the mixed medley relay was added, for a total of 45 medal events. The United States topped the medal table, winning 18 gold & 39 medals in total, and broke 21 world records in the championships, were named the best team award. 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships
The 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships was held in Chartres, France, from November 22 to 25, 2012. The event was held over four days with heats, semifinals and a final for the 50 m and 100 m events and heats and a final for all other events with the exception of the women's 800 m and men's 1500 m freestyle which are heat declared winners. Heats were held in the morning, with semifinals, finals and the fastest heat of the distance freestyle events in the evening. Each nation was permitted to enter four swimmers into each individual event, however only the fastest two were able to progress to the semifinal and/or final. European Short Course Swimming Championships
The European Short Course Swimming Championships, variously referred to informally as the "Short Course Europeans" or "European 25m Championships", are a swimming meet, organized by LEN. The meet features swimmers from Europe, competing in events in a short course (25-meter) pool. The meet has traditionally been held in the beginning of December. The 2018 European Aquatics Championships took place in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Luss in the central belt of Scotland, from 3 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in Scotland and Berlin. LEN European Aquatics Championships
The European Aquatics Championships is the continental Aquatics championship for Europe, which is organised by LEN—the governing body for aquatics in Europe. The Championships are currently held every two years (in even years) and since 2022, they have included 5 aquatics disciplines: swimming (long course/50m pool), diving, synchronised swimming, open water swimming and high diving. Prior to 1999, the championships also included water polo, which beginning in 1999 LEN split-off into a separate championships. The open water events are not held during the Olympic year. The Championships are generally held over a two-week time-period in mid-to-late Summer, but in the most recent Summer Olympics years (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020), the Championships were moved to the Spring to be moved away from the Summer Olympic Games.
