Bäumer died in an air crash at Copenhagen on 15 July 1927, age 31, while test flying a Rohrbach Ro IX fighter, Rohrbach's test pilot had already been involved in a spinning accident, and Bäumer, acting as a freelance test pilot, continued the testing and died after the aircraft entered a spin and crashed in the Øresund. Gertrud Bäumer
Gertrud Bäumer (12 September 1873, Hagen-Hohenlimburg, Westphalia – 25 March 1954, Bethel) was a German politician who actively participated in the German civil rights feminist movement. She was also a writer, and contributed to Friedrich Naumann's paper ''Die Hilfe''. From 1898, Bäumer lived and worked together with the German feminist and politician Helene Lange. Life Gertrud Bäumer studied in Berlin and received her Ph.D. in 1905. Her dissertation was on Goethe's ''Satyron''. Bäumer edited the ''Handbuch der Frauenbewegung'' andbook of the Women's Movementfrom 1901–1906. From 1916–1920 she was in charge of the Social Pedagogical Institute with Marie Braun. Ludwig Bäumer
Ludwig Bäumer (1 September 1888 – 28 August 1928) was a German writer and Communist activist. Biography Bäumer was born in Melle, Germany, on September 1, 1888. He studied law in Göttingen, but interrupted his studies in 1911 to enter the artists' colony of Worpswede. He participated in World War I as a sergeant, but afterwards began to oppose the war. He was a delegate at the founding congress of the Communist Party of Germany in Berlin. He was involved with the Antinational Socialist Party signing their ''Appeal'' when they emerged from clandestiny in November 1918 following the German Revolution. Bäumer was imprisoned in 1919 because of a government crackdown, and afterwards he resigned from the Communist Party. He published a book called ''The Essence of Communism'' the same year.
