Byneset Church
Byneset Church () is a medieval parish church of the Church of Norway in Trondheim Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Byneset area of the city of Trondheim. It is one of the churches for the ''Byneset og Leinstrand'' parish which is part of the Heimdal og Byåsen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, plastered stone church was built in a long church design during the 12th century using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 230 people. History The white, stone church was consecrated as ''St. Michaelskirken'' and dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The year of consecration is not exactly known, but it is assumed that it was about 1180 during the time of Eysteinn Erlendsson (''Øystein Erlendsson''), the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Nidaros. Norwegian Constituent Assembly
The Norwegian Constituent Assembly ( or ) is the name given to the 1814 constitutional assembly that adopted the Norwegian Constitution and formalised the dissolution of the union with Denmark. The meetings took place at the Eidsvoll Manor in the village of Eidsvoll Verk in the Eidsvoll parish in Akershus county, Norway from 10 April to 20 May 1814. An election church () is a term used for approximately 300 churches in Norway that were used as polling stations during the elections to the Norwegian Constituent Assembly at Eidsvoll in 1814. This was Norway's first national elections and this assembly is the group that wrote the Constitution of Norway. A church porch is a room-like structure at a church's main entrance. A porch protects from the weather to some extent. Some porches have an outer door, others a simple gate, and in some cases the outer opening is not closed in any way. The porch at St Wulfram's Church, Grantham, like many others of the period, has a room above the porch. It once provided lodging for the priest, but now houses the Francis Trigge Chained Library. Nidaros Cathedral () is a Church of Norway cathedral located in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county. Eysteinn Erlendsson
Eysteinn Erlendsson (, ; died 26 January 1188) was Archbishop of Nidaros from 1161 to his death in 1188. Background His family came from Trøndelag, and he was related to most of the local nobility. His birth date and place of birth is not recorded. Eysteinn was probably born sometime between 1120 and 1130 on the farm or Råsvoll north of Trondheim in the Verdalen valley . His father was known as Erlend Himalde. He was the grandson of Tørberg Arnesson (died ), who served as an advisor to several Norwegian kings and the great-grandson of Ulv Uspaksson (died 1066), who was a councilman under King Harald Hardrada.
