The politics of Karnataka is represented by three major political parties, the Indian National Congress, the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Janata Dal (Secular) and the Indian National Congress led coalition government was in power in the state since May, 2018, till July, 2019. H.D. The Karnataka Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of Karnataka state in India. Karnataka is one of the six states in India, where the state legislature is bicameral, comprising two houses. The two houses are the ''Vidhan Sabha'' (lower house) and the ''Vidhan Parishad'' (upper house). 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election was held on 12 May 2018 in 222 constituencies to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The election was postponed in Jayanagar, Bangalore, Jayanagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Bangalore, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, following the death of the MLA B. N. 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election was held on 5 May 2013 to elect members from 223 constituencies in the Indian state of Karnataka. The election for the Piriyapatna constituency was postponed to 28 May 2013 due to the death of the BJP candidate for the seat. The voter turnout in the state was 70.23%. Five major political parties contested the election: Indian National Congress (INC) led by Siddaramaiah, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) led by H. The 2008 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election took place in three phases on 10, 16 and 22 May 2008 in all the 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka, India. The elections were conducted to elect a Government in the state of Karnataka for the next five years. Kalmady Gopala Poojary is an Indian politician who worked as Chairman of Karnataka Forest Development Corporation and member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly from Baindur. He was born in Kalmady, Byndoor in August of 1959 to a poor farmer family. After graduation Gopala Poojary moved to Mumbai to find work. On his return to Karnataka, Gopala Poojary started his restaurant business in 1984. Introduced to politics through his political Godfather S Bangarappa.
