Joseph Buxbaum
Joseph D. Buxbaum is an American molecular and cellular neuroscientist, autism researcher, and the Director of the Seaver Autism Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Buxbaum is also, along with Simon Baron-Cohen, the co-editor of the BioMed Central journal '' Molecular Autism'', and is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Autism Science Foundation. Buxbaum is a Professor of Psychiatry, Neuroscience, and Genetics and Genomic Sciences. He is also the Vice Chair for Research and for Mentoring in the Department of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Education Buxbaum received his BSc in Math and Biology from Touro College (New York, NY) in 1980. In 1983, he received his MSc in Neurobiology from the Weizmann Institute of Science (Rehovot, Israel), where he also received his PhD in Neurobiology in 1988 under Yadin Dudai. Friedrich Buxbaum
Friedrich Siegfried Buxbaum (23 September 1869, Vienna 2 October 1948, London) was an Austrian cellist and long-serving member (and principal cello) of the Vienna Philharmonic and Vienna State Opera, and member of the Rosé Quartet. His Jewish father Max Buxbaum was from Bohemia, and mother Rosa Wilharditz was a member of the IKG Wien. Buxbaum studied at the Vienna Conservatory from 1883–87, under the tutelage of Ferdinand Hellmesberger He played briefly in the Glasgow Symphony Orchestra in Scotland, was active as a soloist and a member of the Fitzner Quartet from 1893-1900, and then, on 1 October 1900, was accepted as a member of the Vienna Philharmonic and Vienna State Opera, and also became a member of the Rosé Quartet. Helmuth Buxbaum
Helmuth Buxbaum (March 19, 1939 — November 1, 2007) was a multimillionaire owner of a network of nursing homes in Ontario who was convicted in 1986 of the murder of his wife, two years previously. Hanna Buxbaum was found dead July 5, 1984 on a highway near London, Ontario after having been shot in the head three times. Helmuth Buxbaum had taken out a $1 million life insurance policy on his wife shortly before her murder. The Crown attorney prosecuting the case argued that Buxbaum had hired a hitman to kill his wife for $10,000 and had pulled over to the side of the road so that the man could drag her out of the car and shoot her. The gunman, Gary Foshay, was convicted of second-degree murder. Buxbaum was convicted after a high-profile trial and sentenced to a life sentence without the possibility of parole for 25 years. Johann Christian Buxbaum
Johann Christian Buxbaum (no later than 5 October 1693 – 7 July 1730), was a German physician, botanist, entomologist and traveller. He was born in Merseburg and studied medicine at the Universities of Leipzig, Wittenberg, Jena, and Leyden. In 1721 he was invited by Peter the Great, tsar of Russia, to take up a position as botanist in the Physical Garden, at the Medical Collegium in St Petersburg. In 1724 he became a member of the St Petersburg Academy of Arts and Sciences and a professor at the Academic Gymnasium. In his capacity as a physician, Buxbaum in 1724 was called upon to accompany Alexander Rumyantsev to Constantinopolis, in a Russian diplomatic mission to Turkey. He used this opportunity to visit Greece. On his way back from Constantinopolis he visited Asia Minor, travelling through Baku and Derbent he reached Astrachan, to return, finally, to St Petersburg (in 1727). He died in Wermsdorf, Saxony. Josh Blake (born 18 September 1998) is an English cricketer who plays for Surrey County Cricket Club. He is a left handed batsman and wicket-keeper. Career Blake signed his first professional contract with Surrey in 2022 until the end of the 2024 season.
