Buttlar Family
The House of Buttlar (also Butler, Buttler or Treusch von Buttlar) is the name of an old Upper Franconian- Hessian noble family. The lords of Buttlar originate from the ancient nobility (German: ''uradel'') of Buchonia. Branches of the family also reached Westphalia, Saxony, Prussia, Curonia, France, Poland, Russia and Hungary, and remain partly to this day. The Buttlar and Treusch von Buttlar families of Hessen has since 1660 belonged to the Old Hessian Knighthood, the oldest foundation in Hessen. Louis I, Landgrave Of Hesse
Louis I of Hesse (german: Ludwig) (6 February 1402 - 17 January 1458), called "the Peaceful", was Landgrave of Lower Hesse (Hesse) from 1413 to 1458. He was born at Spangenberg, the son of Hermann II, Landgrave of Hesse and Margaret, the daughter of Frederick V of Nuremberg. He married Anna (5 June 1420 - 17 September 1462) daughter of Frederick I, Elector of Saxony on 13 September 1436. Eva Von Buttlar
Eva Margaretha von Buttlar (22 June 1670, Barchfeld, Hesse-Kassel - 27 April 1721) was a mystic-libertine sectarian and the eponym for a group known as Buttlarsche Rotte (Buttlarian gang). Biography Eva von Buttlar was born in the German town of Eisenach. She left her husband, the count tutor Jean de Vèsias. Together with Justus Gottfried Winter, a theology student and Johann Georg Appenfeller, a medical student, she founded a philadelphical society in Allendorf called the "Christliche und Philadelpische Sozietät" (Christian and Philadelphical Society). This society grew to about seventy members and proclaimed the dawn of the millennial empire. After the pietistscommand (assembly ban for separatist societies) of Karl von Hessen-Kassel, they moved from Allendorf to Glashütte and, later to Saßmannshausen near Lassphe in the shire of Wittgenstein.
