Busoni Commune
Busoni is a commune of Kirundo Province in northern Burundi. The seat lies at Busoni. Location The Commune of Busoni has an area of and had a population of 145,424 as of the 2008 census. It is in the north of Kirundo Province, bordering Rwanda to the north. The northeast is covered by the southern part of Lake Rweru, which extends north into Rwanda and east into the Commune of Giteranyi. Lake Kanzigiri defines the northeastern boundary with the Commune of Bwambarangwe. The settlement of Kabanga is to the west of its southern point. Akayoba Island (''Île Akayoba'') is in the south of the lake. The Murehe Forest is in the north of the commune. The upper part of Lake Cohoha is in the northeast. The RN 14 highway runs north through the eastern part of the commune through Gasenyi to the Rwandan border, where it becomes the NR5 highway. Communes Of Burundi
The Provinces of Burundi, provinces of Burundi are subdivided into 119 commune (subnational entity), communes. The communes are further subdivided into Collines of Burundi, collines. Burundi’s provinces and communes were created on Christmas Day in 1959 by a Belgian colonial decree. They replaced the pre-existing system of chieftains. In July 2022, the government of Burundi announced a complete overhaul of the country’s territorial subdivisions. The proposed change would reduce the amounts of provinces from 18 to 5, and reduce the amount of communes from 119 to 42. Kabanga, Burundi
Kabanga is a village and a '' colline'' in the Commune of Busoni, Kirundo Province, Burundi. Location Kabanga is on the RP 61 road from Busoni to the west, and is in the northeast of the Commune of Busoni. It is southeast of the south end of Lake Kanzigiri, situated to the northeast of Kabanga, which drains north into Lake Rweru. Bugesera District (ecology)
Bugesera is a district (''akarere'') in Eastern Province, Rwanda. Its capital is Nyamata. The district is named after the old Kingdom of Bugesera. The district is the location of two memorial sites of the Rwandan genocide at Ntarama and Nyamata. Geography Bugesera comprises areas south of Kigali, which were formerly in the Kigali Ngali province, around the town of Nyamata. The area is prone to droughts as it has a higher average daytime temperature than the Rwandan average, and lower precipitation.
