Bush (brand)
Bush is a British consumer electronics brand owned by Sainsbury's, J Sainsbury plc (Sainsbury's), the parent company of the retailer Argos (retailer), Argos, both of which exclusively sell Bush products. The brand has existed since the 1930s and originated as a London-based company named Bush Radio. Bush Radio was one of the most famous manufacturers of early British Receiver (radio), radio receivers in the mid 20th century. The original company became defunct in 1962 when it merged with Murphy Radio, but the Bush brand name survives as a private label brand for budget electronics, becoming the most popular brand in the UK for smaller-size TVs in the 1990s and has since also become popular for products such as smart TVs, tablets and white goods as of 2015. J Sainsbury Plc
J Sainsbury plc, trading as Sainsbury's, is a British supermarket and the second-largest chain of supermarkets in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1869 by John James Sainsbury with a shop in Drury Lane, London, the company was the largest UK retailer of groceries for most of the 20th century. In 1995, Tesco became the market leader when it overtook Sainsbury's, which has since been ranked second or third: it was overtaken by Asda from 2003 to 2014, and again for one month in 2019. ''Britain Can Make It'' was an exhibition of industrial and product design held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in 1946. It was organised by the '' Council of Industrial Design'', later to become the ''Design Council''. Boombox
A boombox is a transistorized portable music player featuring one or two cassette tape players/recorders and AM/FM radio, generally with a carrying handle. Beginning in the mid-1990s, a CD player was often included. Sound is delivered through an amplifier and two or more integrated loudspeakers. A boombox is a device typically capable of receiving radio stations and playing recorded music (usually cassette tapes or CDs usually at a high volume). Homebase was a British Home improvement center, home improvement and garden centre retailer that operated across the United Kingdom and Ireland. It was founded by British supermarket chain Sainsbury's and Belgian retailer GIB Group, GB-Inno-BM in March 1981, as Sainsbury's Homebase. By the end of the 1980s, it opened its fiftieth store, making it the UK's fourth biggest home improvement retailer.
