Bus 300 Affair
The Bus 300 affair (), also known as Kav 300 affair, was a 1984 incident in which Shin Bet members executed two Palestinian bus hijackers, immediately after the hostage crisis incident ended and they had been captured. After the incident the Shin Bet members gave false testimony on their involvement in the affair. The Israeli military censor blacked out coverage of the hijacking originally, but nevertheless, the publication of information regarding the affair in foreign press, and eventually in the Israeli media, led a public uproar, which led many in the Israeli public to demand that the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the hijackers would be investigated. In 1985, a senior Israeli army general Yitzhak Mordechai was acquitted of charges related to the deaths of the captured hijackers. The Israel Security Agency (ISA; , (GSS); ), better known by the Hebrew acronyms, acronyms Shabak (; ; ) or Shin Bet (from the abbreviation of , "Security Service"), is Israel's internal Security agency, security service. Deir El-Balah
Deir al-Balah or Deir al Balah () is a city in the center of the Gaza Strip, Palestine, and the administrative capital of the Deir al-Balah Governorate. It is located over south of Gaza City. The city had a population of 75,132 in 2017. The city is known for its date palms, after which it is named. Deir al-Balah dates back to the Late Bronze Age when it served as a fortified outpost for the New Kingdom of Egypt. A monastery was built there by the Christian monk Hilarion in the mid-4th century AD and is currently believed to be the site of a mosque dedicated to Saint George, known locally as al-Khidr. During the Crusader-Ayyubid wars, Deir al-Balah was the site of a strategic coastal fortress known as "Darum" which was continuously contested, dismantled and rebuilt by both sides until its final demolition in 1196. David Shipler
David K. Shipler (born December 3, 1942) is an American author and journalist. He won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 1987 for '' Arab and Jew: Wounded Spirits in a Promised Land''. Among his other publications the book entitled, '' The Working Poor: Invisible in America'', also has garnered many awards. Bassam Abu Sharif
Bassam Abu Sharif (; born August 9, 1946 in Jerusalem) is a former senior adviser to Yasser Arafat and leading cadre of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). He was previously a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). The Israeli Military Censor () is a unit in the IDF Directorate of Military Intelligence tasked with carrying out preventive censorship inside the State of Israel regarding the publication of information that might affect the security of Israel. The body is headed by the Israeli Chief Censor, a military official is appointed by Israel's Minister of Defense, who bestows upon the Chief Censor the authority to suppress information he deems compromising from being made public in the media. Ehud Yatom
Ehud Yatom (; born 26 September 1948) is an Israeli former Shin Bet agent and politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Likud between 2003 and 2006. Biography Yatom was born in Netanya, the brother of Mossad head and politician Danny Yatom. He worked for the Shin Bet and was one of the agents who killed two terrorists in the Kav 300 extrajudicial killing in 1984, by smashing their heads with rocks.
