Nikolay Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital () is the main military hospital of the Russian Armed Forces. The hospital is located in Moscow and is under the jurisdiction of the Main Military Medical Directorate (Russia), Main Military Medical Directorate. It has branches in Balashikha and Sergeyev Posad 6. History The hospital ("Military Hospital") was founded on May 25 (June 5), 1706 in Lefortovo by decree of Peter the Great and became the first state medical institution in Russia. The founder of the hospital (and the first medical school in Russia attached to it) was Nikolai Bidloo who he led the hospital until his death in 1738, a Dutch doctor who had previously been the personal physician of Peter the Great, Peter I. A military hospital is a hospital owned or operated by a military. They are often reserved for the use of military personnel and their dependents, but in some countries are made available to civilians as well.
