Burabay Ski Jumps
The National Ski Center is a modern ski jumping complex with normal and large hill in Shchuchinsk, Kazakhstan. It's located in Burabay District in the northern part of the country. History Works started in 2009 and officially opened by Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev in July 2018. The first official competition took place on 11 July 2019 on normal hill at the 2019–20 FIS Cup (ski jumping), FIS Cup competition. Longest jump on plastic ever Invalid On 11 July 2018 at the opening event, Slovenian ski jumper Jurij Tepeš touched the ground at 154 metres (505 ft) long test jump, however, this is the longest summer jump ever in the history of plastic mate, on which they jump since 1955. Summer world record On 11 July 2018 at the opening event, Kazakhstanian ski jumper Sergey Tkachenko set the summer world record distance at 151 metres (495 ft). Shchuchinsk
Shchuchinsk ( kz, Щучинск, ''Şuchinsk''; russian: Щучинск, ) is a city in northern-central Kazakhstan, located 75 kilometres south-east of Kokshetau on Lake Shchuchye. It is the seat of Burabay District (form. Shchuchinsk District) in Akmola Region and is the centre of a large agricultural area. Geography Shchuchinsk is located at the feet of the Kokshetau Massif, in the Kokshetau Hills, northern part of the Kazakh Uplands. Burabay spa town lies nearby to the northeast. Jurij Tepeš (born 14 February 1989) is a Slovenian former ski jumper. Career Tepeš won a bronze medal at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo in the team large hill event. In the 2010–11 season he got his first podium in World Cup team event with Slovenia. For the first time in his career he won individual in a Grand Prix competition in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Ski Jumping
Ski jumping is a winter sport in which competitors aim to achieve the farthest jump after sliding down on their skis from a specially designed curved ramp. Along with jump length, competitor's aerial style and other factors also affect the final score. Ski jumping was first contested in Norway in the late 19th century, and later spread through Europe and North America in the early 20th century. Along with cross-country skiing, it constitutes the traditional group of Nordic skiing disciplines. The ski jumping venue, commonly referred to as a ''hill'', consists of the jumping ramp (''in-run''), take-off table, and a landing hill. Each jump is evaluated according to the distance traveled and the style performed. The distance score is related to the construction point (also known as the ''K-point''), which is a line drawn in the landing area and serves as a "target" for the competitors to reach. Cene Prevc (born 12 March 1996) is a retired Slovenian ski jumper. Career On 18 February 2013, Prevc won the individual event at the 2013 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOF) with a combined points of 261.0. With this victory Cene followed the path of his brother Peter, who also won the EYOF individual event back in 2009. He made his World Cup debut in the 2013–14 season in Planica. In 2022, he ended his ski jumping career to focus on studying. Personal life Prevc was born in Kranj to Božidar and Julijana Prevc; the family has since been living in the village of Dolenja Vas.
