Mount Bundey, Northern Territory
__NOTOC__ Mount Bundey is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about east of the territory capital of Darwin. The locality consists of land bounded to the north by the Arnhem Highway and to the east by the Kakadu National Park. The locality is named from a hill named Mount Bundey which itself is named after the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Bundey. Its boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007. The Mount Bundey Training Area, an Australian Defence Force facility, occupies the eastern side of the locality. Bundey, South Australia
Bundey is a locality in the Mid North region of South Australia. It is located on Goyder's Line, on the plains between Burra and Morgan in the Regional Council of Goyder. The bounded locality of Bundey corresponds to the boundaries of the cadastral Hundred of Bundey, except for the southwestern corner of the Hundred which is the northeastern corner of the locality of Geranium Plains. Bundey was named in 1878 for politician William Henry Bundey. The area was originally the territory of the Ngadjuri people. Following European settlement, it was surveyed into 500 acre blocks and taken up by farmers in 1879. Bundey Post Office opened on 1 May 1882 and closed on 1 October 1901. Bundey Immanuel Lutheran Church was established in 1889. The first building was pug and daub. After storm damage, a more substantial building of limestone and bricks replaced it in either 1900 or 1905. Sir William Henry Bundey (30 January 1838 – 6 December 1909) was an Australian politician and judge, Attorney-General of South Australia from 27 September 1878 to 10 March 1881. __NOTOC__ Early life Bundey was born in Exbury, Hampshire, England, the second son of James Bundey and his wife Harriett ''née'' Lockyer. The family emigrated to South Australia in 1848 after losing money in England. William's father died about a few weeks after his arrival, and the boy, though only 10 years of age, went to work in a solicitor's office. In 1856 he was appointed clerk of the City of Onkaparinga local court, but gave this position up about six years later to become articled to a solicitor. Bundey was practically self-educated but he was a good law student, and he was admitted to the bar in 1865. William Bundey (26 January 1826 – 2 April 1889) was an early settler of the colony of South Australia, a builder, and Mayor of Adelaide, South Australia from 1883 to 1886. Early life Bundey was born in Beaulieu, Hampshire, England on 16 January 1826. He served an apprenticeship as carpenter and builder in London. On 12 June 1848 he married Elizabeth Brandis in London, and the couple emigrated to the colony of South Australia, arriving on 19 November 1848. Career Bundey worked as a carpenter and builder, and also had some success on the Victorian goldfields, before returning to Adelaide to set up his own business as a builder. Public office Bundey was elected councillor for Robe ward of the City Council in December 1861, and was re-elected in 1864 and 1866, before retiring in December 1868.
